Tested at near upper limit. Decent Inverter.
I've put this through a pretty rigorous test, to see if it works as advertised. I used a probe tester to see if it outputs 120V at the sockets, while plugged up to a car. So far, so good, though it always seems like it's wavering somewhere between 85V and 120V. I then plugged up my laptop, which is rated at 130W output (input 100-240V~ 2.5A @50/60Hz) on the power brick. Laptop was already fully charged. Except the intermittent warning beep (which I figured, since the red fault light wasn't on) while the car was powered off for a while, I had no problems. I unplugged the laptop and let the battery go down all the way to 5 percent, and let it charge through this inverter. It worked for a good 20 minutes or so (while the car was running, the entire time), but I started to get the warning beep, and the fault light and sound kept coming up. It did proceed to charge at near full battery, until I decided to call it quits.Would've given it at least 4 stars, but the cable that connects it to a 12-volt regular car plug is too short, having to sit it in a weird way in the car, on the floorboard, which isn't too safe at all. So far, it definitely outperforms the crappy Samlex power inverters that I have since long returned.

It works great when hooked up to the car battery
It works great when hooked up to the car battery. tried the lighter plug route and it killed my power mirrors as well as my car radio...:(

This item don’t work right the voltage is too high ...
This item don’t work right the voltage is too high instead of reading 120v it’s reading 178 to 182.My TV went off when I plug it in.

Actual Sine Wave Inverter
Wasn't sure about the claim of a pure sine wave inverter, so I brought this inverter to our engineers and had them hook it up to a scope. As you can see in the attached pictures, this actually produces a clean sine wave, which is important for electronics. This powers my laptop with ease, and have used it on trips to power three different electronic devices. A good clean signal, and have yet to push this to the limits. Great device. Only trouble I've had out of it is that it produced a ground loop when hooking it up to a broadcast device...I would need a humbucker, but that's hardly the inverters problem. Powered several LED light panels with it...worked well. Great device and from my experience, worth the money.

Not sine wave. Cheap junk.
Inverter couldn't start inductive computer fan motors. I hooked an O-scope to the output, and the waveform had sharp high voltage peaks on every rising wave. Lots of 60 hz noise in the output. Unusable for sensitive equipment.
