Great Bedding
I buy this elsewhere for a better price but still wanted to leave a review here. I've been using this for years now as a bedding on top of a coconut coir base layer for my rats and mice. It expands because each strip of a tight zipzag pattern relaxes and stretches over time. With rats you're supposed to freeze any paper-based product for 48 hours first to kill possible mites. This product has the advantage over the compressed paper products like Care Fresh in that the cold in the freezer really penetrates it since it isn't compressed in the traditional sense. With Care Fresh, it never feels cold right out of the freezer and my rats have gotten mites before from it. Not with this one. Never had a problem and my guys love rearranging it. And there's zero dust.

Not a good product
This was purchased for a using in a cage with rats. This bedding smells awful when there is urine on it. We change bedding every other day and it was almost unbearable to walk past the room. We have swapped to fleece bedding and the rats are happier and there is no more smell. I would not recommend using this product for rats.

great bedding to mix with others!
my rats love this bedding, and I really like it too. I use this and hemp (which tends to fall flat and not ideal for enrichment), and this one is great. So much more fun for them to dig in, and they build nests out of the structures in the bottom. Also, I use it in all of their foraging toys so its great for that as well! I got the bulk natural size and I have no regrets. The 10lb box lasts a while and is owrth every penny.

More expensive for same result
I bought this for my guinea pigs' cage to see how it compared to other paper bedding. Although it says that it expands, this bag is only good for one cage fill (I have the Midwest cage), therefore making it more than twice the price of other paper bedding such as Critter Care or Carefresh. I was impressed with the odor control and I like the density of the product, but it is not worth the extra price as a week later I'm still having to change out the cage as with all of the other paper bedding.

Great stuff!
I like using this for our gerbil cage. Easy to use and keeps the cage clean.

Hamster Allergies
My hamster is allergic to all paper bedding, he would sneeze untrollably with all other bedding and brands we tried. This bedding completely stopped his allergies, never sneezed again. Plus he loves to bury himself in it. It's expensive but at least it doesn't get him sick.

this looks like I might get about 8 but that's still pretty ...
Okay brand. Not the kind I usually use but not as Dusty as the other brands. My hedgehog uses them to make her hide nest. I can usually get about 10 cage cleanings out of her usual brand, this looks like I might get about 8 but that's still pretty good given the price. ( I use fleece liners for " bedding" and this stuff strictly for digging and nesting purposes not to fill the cage, whole cage as bedding you probably would only get one cage full per bag)

I'll never use another bedding again!
BEST bedding ever! All the others I tried with my Syrian hamster made a mess! Pieces of the bedding and dust everywhere around her cages, but not with this stuff! I am allergic to most animal hair and with the other bedding, I would have all the common symptoms, but not with this bedding. It really is great! I change it once a week and it's virtually odor free!
