When used right, it's perfect, as is my shiny silverware now
I have cleaned my sterling vintage silverware before with aluminum foil, baking soda and boiling water. It certainly did the job and was a lot easier and did a better job than silver polish. However, it stinks to high heavens - seriously bad odor. And I also didn't like having to tear up the aluminum and try to fit it in the pan and the messy look it had. This plate sits nicely and tidily in the glass baking pan, and after just a few minutes the silverware is sparkling and there is zero odor.As others mentioned, use ceramic or glass, not metal. I used washing soda this time, but I actually do not think it gets different or better results than baking soda. The key is to use boiling water (or at least very hot) to cover the objects to be cleaned, and to have each surface that needs "de-tarnishing" touch the metal. What I did is used tongs to turn the spoons and forks over, as the curve prevented the edges from touching the metal.

Damaged my tea set
I followed the instructions to the letter. I noticed most of the tarnish coming off and as I was rinsing off the tea set I also noticed that the silver plating was coming off as well. I can literally rub the silver plate off now. Glad I bought the tea set at a garage sale. It looked better all tarnished. Now it’s pretty much garbage. I would be careful using this on something expensive.

They are amazing!!
It’s like magic and this coffee pot hadn’t been cleaned in 20 yrs! You just put silver piece in utility sink or plastic tub and add the Arm and Hammer washing soap, put the item in and pour boiling water in sink. It’s amazing! Piece needs to be submerged z, and I actually boiled hot water to use! It really works! Going to put my large tray in a Rubbermaid tub so I can submerge the entire thing. So amazing!

Works better than expected. Use washing soda, not baking soda.
This removed the majority of tarnish from a silver plate tea set. It is especially useful for removing tarnish from ornate areas. Several tips:1. Instructions do not specify amounts of water to use. They do specify use of baking soda. Per other reviews, I used a dishpan filled 2/3 full of hot water and a few good shakes of WASHING SODA, not baking. Next time, I will try a 5 gallon bucket, I think, in order to fully submerge my coffee pot and tray. I also added more washing soda as the solution seemed to gradually lose potency toward the end of my task.2. The solution smells like dead fish. Use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Wear gloves, put down newspaper or old towels.3. Immediately dry items thoroughly after removing from solution. Otherwise, the silver plate will be covered with white haze.4. The solution sloshed onto my painted porch and left a white haze. It seemed to come off once I wiped it down with the leftover solution and hosed down with fresh water.5. I polished everything quickly with silver polish after the bath. But, because 95% of the tarnish was already removed (especially from ornate areas), this took about 1/4 of the normal time.I will use this product in the future.

Instructions make it NOT WORK as featured
I've used this concept before, with great success. But NONE with this item. Turns out the directions are completely wrong. BAKING SODA will not work, even a little. WASHING SODA works perfectly. And that's what I had used in the past with another plate system. So. Perhaps this was something 'lost in translation' for this seller/manufacturer?If you want this to work, use it with WASHING SODA only, with piping hot water, and you'll get great results. If you use their own directions, you'll get no results, with BAKING SODA.

DOES SILVER EARINGS AND RINGS QUICKLY..
my grandmother had a plate like this when i was young. Glad they still have them. Made it very easy to set in water w/ baking soda then clean several pieces of detailed silver jewelry. Highly recommend this time saving plate. Takes hours off of cleaning any silver, even serving ware.

Product doesn’t work as described.
It is a shame that Amazon support this kind of products without testing it. I dislike very much that people take advantage of other, this product is a total scam it doesn’t work at all, as the seller description, it doesn’t remove tarnish from my silverware not even a little, and I’ve followed their instructions step by step. Very disappointed.

Does not work as advertised
This item is not lifting tarnish. Rather it deposits tarnish on silver flatware. Not like a product that I have used in the past. Will not use it again.

Do Not purchase this product
I unpacked my silver tea set that has been in storage for over 15 years, it was tarnished. I had purchased this product, followed the instructions even to the extent of using boiling water and then adding more baking soda than required because the product was not working. I then tried the smaller plate that is meant for jewelry on a sugar bowl and again it did nothing. I attempted to try 3 more times by emptying the water and starting over and the product does not work, it did nothing. I had a product I used 16 years ago or more that looked the same and worked fantastic, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

Worked well on Pandora bracelets and Tiffany silver chains
Worked as described. Tiffany bracelet looked almost new, could have done a little better on the Pandora bracelet, but I would say it made it 90% better in less than a minute.

Easy and Inexpensive method for cleaning silver!
I used the large plate + baking soda & very hot water to clean my silver plate teapot. It is still bright and shiny after 3 weeks without any sign of tarnish. The package of 2 plates (2 different sizes) was reasonably priced and reusable; baking soda is readily available and inexpensive.
