I dreaded the cheap stamped tablets with what felt like a razor sharp edge that used to scratch my throat. These here on the other hand are capsules which slide down my throat without even feeling them. I purchased capsules from three different brands: Source Naturals L-Lysine, Country Life L-Lysine with B-6, and Super Immune Plus Lysine. The Super Immune Plus has some extra stuff in it that I was curious to try. I have not taken it long enough to make any assessment.As far as the ingredients, the L-Lysine supplement, is for me without a doubt a miracle supplement. I started taking it when I saw one of my colleagues at work taking it to suppress canker sores. So I thought I would give it a try and I am happy to report that I have not had a canker sore inside my mouth in 3 years, whereas I used to get it twice per year, and would last close to 4 weeks each time. I take a regular maintenance dose of a couple caps a day. If I feel stressed out or feel a slight tingle in my mouth I go to 4 caps in the morning and 4 at night. I actually also have the power form of Lysine that I can shovel into a cup and mix it with coarse metamucil, and water and drink it, but it is a bit of a pain to do that. Caps are much more convenient. I found Lysine also helps to curb other viral annoyances such as blisters. I have not had any side effects, just relief.

This product has got to be one of the best out there next to Ester C Immune Plus Probiotics. Tried this the first time I had shingles and it helped relieve some pain plus the rash wasn't as red and irritating. Seemed to go away pretty fast. The Lysine is an amino acid that blocks the virus and stimulates your immune system. The best for any form of Herpes! I usually take 1500mgs twice a day for onset and then once a day for prevention. You can also take up to 10,000mgs of Lysine alone (powder, not tablets) a day for 3 days. Gives it a hard kick. And no, never have had any side effects, just relief. My naturalpath even recommended that much too. Great for onset of any bug or virus! A friend of mine had a cold sore that spread all over her face and it was painful! She took this product on top of 5,000mgs of Lysine powder for just 2 days and the sores pretty much vanished! Love Quantum Health and many of their honest to goodness products! I ordered this thinking I was getting the lysine with the echinacea and the licorice, etc., which is what my husband has been taking for years. But this one is something I like because I use olive leaf for lots of reasons so I will use them up and see how I get on.
