Q: Do I need to order ANYTHING extra to go with this seat?

No, it has everything you need to mount it. I had the same question, unfortunately, I bought an extra bracket. My son and I love this seat. Enjoy!

Q: Can this seat be mounted on a bike with an existent rack--or must we buy the other Maxi model? I have seen both responses here.

Yes. With the seat post attachment, the bike seat sits just above the existing rack. The seat can be easily removed with the seat post attachment still on, and you should probably be able to fit other rack attachments like a basket when the seat is detached.

Q: Does this version include the seat post?

Yes, you can put it straight on the bike. We love ours! And it was easy to buy a second post and install it on my husband's bike. Now we just switch the seat from bike to bike depending on our needs.

Q: It’s between this and thule ridealong. this seat doesn’t look very deep? and where does the child put hands? is that an issue? thanks

We thought this was a perfect seat. I liked the way it connects to the bike better that the Thule. Hands never seemed to be an issue. They can't get into the spokes. Generally I think my child had her hands on my back or her lap. I totally recommend.
