This is Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise; my mission is to boldly go where no Barbie has gone before
Captain James T. Kirk has arrived and now my trio of Star Trek 50th Anniversary dolls is complete. I remember playing Star Trek with my older siblings and my brother would always want to be Captain Kirk so he could order us around. I always thought about the differences between Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock. Kirk with so much emotion and Mr. Spock who tried to hide all of his emotions. They were a great pair to play off one another. This action figure is a much better representation of Captain Kirk than previous Mattel dolls (who were essentially Ken dressed up in a uniform.) However, there seems to be something a little off. While feature by feature the doll resembles Captain Kirk, there appears to be an essential spark or essence missing that only William Shatner can bring to the character. It is still an good representation and, as I said, feature by feature, it looks right. My doll looks very much like the one featured on the website; however, the skin tone is a tad darker and the shirt is more yellow than gold. The figure has medium ash blond (almost taupe) colored hair. He has light brown eyes. A flip-lid communicator is held (via clear elastic band) in his left hand and in his right hand, he holds a phaser. The fingers on both hands are molded together with the first finger having slight separation at the very tip.I really like the new trend of articulated bodies from Mattel. Captain Kirk has the same body that Mr. Spock has. The figure is fairly well articulated with points at the neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hips, knees, and ankles.I would have liked to have seen bicep and waist points of articulation but the doll works fairly well until you try to put it in a sitting position. When I removed the pants, I could get the doll to sit (it did not have the hip disjointing issues I had with my Mr. Spock so that was probably limited to my specific doll.) I would have enjoyed being able to pose Captain Kirk more fully but I will still have fun with him as-is. His arms can be held close to the body in the down position; however, the higher you place the arms, the further they stay from the body.Captain Kirk is wearing a stretch yellow shirt with gold brain and black accents. The pants are black and a woven non-stretchable fabric that ends mid-calf. He wears black boots that have a split in the back which allows you to position the feet. There is a stand included but I found that I could position the doll (er, action figure) in a standing position without the stand. I wish that they had made the pants of a stretchy material as I can use the articulation of the body to its fullest range – it keeps “bouncing” back because of the pull of the non-stretch fabric.Jim is off to join Mr. Spock in my husband's office. Lt. Uhura is still hanging out with Game Developer Barbie on my desk but at some point she will make her way across the treacherous universe of our downstairs and join the rest of the crew. I'm really enjoying these action figures and only wish Mattel had come out with a few more of the characters.

A great looking doll for Captain Kirk Fans
My boyfriend loved him! William Shatner did not quiet look this in shape while playing Kirk, lol, but it’s a great looking doll.My only complaint is that the stand broke almost immediately. I bought him for less than $15, but I would have been disappointed if I had paid full price.

The one and only Captain Kirk
For me, Captain Kirk will always be William Shatner and this doll is a decent depiction of him. I like the face sculpt but the head is a bit odd with his face being larger than the rest of head. Also you can only tilt his head in one direction...I am not sure if this is true for all of them or just a glitch with this specific doll. He arrived in great condition. The box was not damaged in any way. That does not matter to me as I took him out of the box but I do know it does for collectors. I loved his accessories...the phaser and communicator are awesome and spot on...that was it except for the stand. His costume is great...well made and looks similar to the ones on the TV show. He has some articulation...not as much as a Made To Move but better than most Ken dolls...he is going to be good for my purposes.I did get him to stand by himself as you can see in the photo. All in all I am pleased with this purchase especially at the price I paid ($12). I gave him the 4 stars due to the limits with the neck movement.

Collectible.
I made the mistake of opening up Spock and throwing away the box. I wish I hadn’t. He is worth 25 times the price I paid. I’m keeping the box in this one.

It's perfect.
Doesn't really look like William Shatner, in my opinion. Though it is still an attractive doll. Well made, fully articulated, glad I bought it.

Mine came without any Articulation
I don't know who is to blame, the seller, or Kenner, but my Barbie Captain Kirk came without any articulation. You couldn't tell before taking him out of the box, of course. The arms are the molded in place plastic that all Kens have been in the past. I was very disappointed. I would love to get an articulated one for myself; I gave a second version of Spock to my daughter, who is an Original Star Trek fan, and my Spock is also articulated. Too bad.

not in perfect condition but still nice.
I have to say although I was really really happy to have received the doll I noticed a couple things that I didn't like about the box quality that it came in.1) the bottom was kind of opened up2) it's not in perfect condition I can see that's it not been opened but it still came like it was heavily tampered with.Even with all that it still is a nice item and I purchased it as a christmas gift for my mom so I'll be excited for her to receive it when she does.Just for those that want it perfect this is something to look out for.

I am very pleased with my purchase
I am very pleased with my purchase. The Star Trek 50th Anniversary figure is of the usual Mattel high quality. - Likeness to Cpt. Kirk is acceptable.
