Crescent 52910N 254mm/10-Inch A-N Connector Slip Joint Pliers

My experience with A-N Pliers first came while serving in the US Air Force in the sixties. I worked in Avionics Maintenance on the F-4 Phantom Jets. Our tool kits contained a pair of these pliers. We used them primarily for removing the large connectors on the "black boxes" that contained the electronics. Once out of the Air Force I worked in electronics maintenance for a manufacturer and was a depot service manager. I made sure that all of our work benches were supplied with two pairs of these pliers. When doing professional work the very last thing you would do is mar the appearance of customer owned equipment. The soft jaws of these pliers allow you to take many different things apart without marring the finish. Anyone that has ever used a Stillson wrench would know what happens when you use one on pipes. This tool allows the disassembly of even the most stubborn fittings without marring what you are taking apart. The slip joint feature also makes them very useful for a wide variety of applications. Since retiring I have been doing some contract work here and there and ordered these to complete my tool kit. I also know that you can order replacement soft jaws for these pliers precluding the need to replace the entire plier if you damage (or wear out) the soft jaws. I would also note that I found them at a great price on Amazon and received them within a few days of my order.

Needed these to assist in a plumbing project that required delicate jaws to remove a trim piece. These made that possible.

I don't know if the Knipex ones work better but this pliers, with cheaper price, works great everytime for me as an aircraft mechanic!

50 % of price of identical item from sports specialty stores.I use it for removing and reinstalling magazine tube caps on pump and semi-auto shotguns.Plastic jaws allow max tightening (and effortless loosening) with zero chance of "skinning" or marring the caps.A must for shot guns when you want to save the finish.

I think I must have accidentally thrown my old crimpers away cause I just couldnt find them anywhere...I am sure they will turn up now that I have another set! These are better and cheaper anyway so even if they do I will just put them in the random tool drawer. There is a very nice sort of "ramp" on the teeth with these that makes loading the connector to crimp a little easier. Kind of visible in this pic.Then there is the plethora of pins and such. I really just ordered these for the tool but this was a huge bonus. These are all very well molded which at this price is very unexpected.All in all this is a fantastic value.
