Smooth and clean cutting - good value!
I do a lot of machine quilting and embroidery and am very picky about my tools for these crafts, especially my cutting tools. I have many different brands and types of cutting tools that I've acquired over the years in search of the "perfect" scissor, rotary cutter, snippers, and so on. I think I've finally found the perfect rotary cutter for me when cutting fabric for quilting!I have severe carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists from many years of typing / computing (since 1965, in fact). This Clauss Titanium Bonded Rotary Cutter doesn't seem to aggravate the CTS as much as some others I own and used before. I also own the Martelli, Olfa, Fiscars and TrueCut rotary cutters. They're also good, but I think what I like most about this Clauss is the cutting ease achieved with the Titanium blade. The cutter is lightweight and the surface easy to lightly grip and cut efficiently without pushing down on it too hard. It cuts cleanly and evenly, and my hand doesn't start to fall asleep too soon. Keep in mind that my right hand begins to fall asleep within a minute of writing with a pen or pencil, which is true anytime I have to grip an object. The Clauss cutter and Titanium blade cut so smoothly and quickly that I have my cuts made in no time and can lay the cutter down. This Clauss cutter doesn't retract on its own, so the blade remains extended until you move the red thumb rest backwards to intentionally retract the blade. If you haven't formed the habit of always retracting your blade, this could be dangerous should you drop it to the floor with bare feet and ankles. This would also be the case if children were around. Once retracted, there's a locking safety button you can engage if you remember to do so. I live alone and my grandchildren don't live in the area, so this isn't an issue for me; but I do cut in my bare feet all the time. If automatic blade retraction is important to you, then buy an Olfa with that safety feature.I've only used this cutter to cut out one quilt and four potholders so far, but it still cuts cleanly with the same Titanium blade as when I bought it. I haven't dropped the cutter either, but my sewing room is a converted bedroom with carpeting, so I suspect the blade wouldn't be damaged if I did happen to drop it.I really like this cutter so far; and because the safety features aren't a critical factor in my rating, I gave it five stars. If you're looking for a lightweight, efficient rotary cutter that gets the job done; and the safety features aren't high on your list of must haves, then I encourage you to buy the Clauss Titanium Bonded Rotary Cutter. I don't think you'll be disappointed in its performance.

AWESOME ROTARY CUTTER
I have never owned a rotary cutter however my husband decided to buy me a sewing machine and well I figured I needed to start buying tools to help me with projects especially with cutting fabric, well I must say, I read the many reviews about other rotary cutters and then came across this one - I have never heard of the Clauss brand but decided I would take a chance plus the price was in the mid-range with the other cutters I came across - when I recieved the cutter last week I was amazed in how sharp the rotary blade was - the precision in the cuts - I only cut through the fabric once, did not have to go back and recut - it was perfect - I even tried cutting through multiple layers of cotton fabrics (4 layers) and the Clauss cutter cut through those 4 layers like it was nothing - I am new to the whole sewing, crafting, and fabric making so for you advanced and expert seemtrists if a rotary cutter is part of your tool box - I would suggest this one - wonderful tool, price, and it has a safety mechanism for locking when not in use.
