True fingerstyle jazz guirtar.
This guy plays some great solo fingerstyle guitar and the DVD shows him playing it and showing how he does it in good detail. The only thing that could be better would be if there was a CD of him playing the tunes, as these are great arrangements-guess I'll have to master theses gems myself if I want to hear them more often! He plays the tunes on an electric guitar but they translate easily to an acoustic, but having a cutaway will help on some of the tunes. The level of playing is definitely advanced, but I think all the tunes will yield to persistence, even if you're only a beginning level fingerstylist. The arrangements sound so interesting, I think you'll still be interested in playing them even if it takes a few hours to begin getting them under your fingers.

A real bargain
I'm a classical guitarist just branching into jazz so I'm not familiar with the differences in technique and phrasing, etc. The book is great with full bodied arrangements, but they are written to be playable, as said above, no impossible stretches, etc. The accompanying DVD dissects each song, and shows you "how" to play it which is really helpful to me. The book is both standard notation and tab and is high quality like other Hal Leonard pubs I've purchased. With my background, I'm a little overly dependent on the written music, and here I get the best of both worlds. Hands on dvd, plus the charts to aid the memory. I'll more than get my money's worth from this book and look forward to learning all the tunes.

Great Jazz Guitar-tab is grossly inaccurate.
The book must have been auto-tabbed, another words 50% of the tab does not match the performances. It's possible Jake changed the arrangements since tabbing the book, but I doubt it. Given some of the ridiculous stretches tabbed, only a machine would have made that mistake. You will have to hand tab or block out, every tune.Aside from the that, the selection of tunes is well balanced. Some you will not recognize by name, but certainly by melody. Very attainable arrangements, none the less your carpal tunnel will not appreciate the work out.To be honest, this product should have been sold as a stand alone DVD-for less of course.

Playable Solos
If you're reading this, then you probably own or have perused other similar publications. The difference here is that not only are all the arrangements PLAYABLE and of performance quality, but there's a DVD to watch along with the written arrangements. Reichbart delivers the goods, and I say that having purchased shelves full of books like this that (a) didn't deliver true performance-quality arrangements, or (b) required large hands to make the huge stretches sometimes required. Excellent material.

JR does it again!
I love seeign and hearing Jake play and his DVDs are at the heart of his instructional method. These Hal leanard books are a bargain with clear notation and TAB to assist in the exensive DVD of the songs and step through of his style. So much to learn for this master, but not so heavy as to be too difficult, the arrangements stand on their own or as a jumping off for your own diversions on them, and of course Jakes easy going way of teaching shows a lot more about the challenging style of solo guitar playing and arranging ~ recomend all JR's titles by Hal Leonard and worht checking out his you tube channel for more examples of his other arrangements available in a variety of styles ~

Jazz Guitar
Excellent arrangements for the Jazz guitar. I play Classical and Chet Atking style guitar, and this is just an easy transition to Jazz guitar.

A very good DVD except it is for Finger Picking style only which I can't do

Goede transcripties

Good guidance for a Jazz learner!!!
This book deserves the 5 star rate based on the good tab and video lesson, which is accompanied by a CD.This book can be a little bit difficult for the beginner level. If you know some Jazz chords, it is good for you.Besides, the song selection is pretty nice and better than other Jazz books.
