These are a lot of fun!
These are great! I have 5 boys and they all love these! What boy wouldn't? They offer a lot of pure boyish play as they battle one another. These have appealed to my 15 year old all the way down to my 3 year old! All they need now are a shields. Although it may not seem to provide a lot of educational value, when you consider the exercise and the large motor dexterity it takes to use these Mashoongas, you will see their weight in gold. If you are wondering, this product is quality. They are sturdy and are well padded so getting hit doesn't really hurt. Hitting in the head is still off limits, however.

Great toy and company
My son received this toy for Christmas. It was an instant hit with him and his dad. They immediately started the fun with a sword fight before they even finished opening their gifts. We were pleased with the construction of this toy. We did have a small issue with the defect and I contacted the company. They were prompt in responding and are sending a replacement right away. It is nice to see a company stand behind their product. I would recommend this toy to any boy, especially a boy that is cooped up for the winter. They are a good way to burn some energy.

Let the Battle Begin!
Great toy, quite durable, but soft enough to prevent any real risk of injury, wish the handle were a bit longer for me, but it is a good length for kids.Perfect for some rough housing indoors or outside, be sure to supervise though, the handles are hard and if someone takes it into their head to try and hit / poke with the handle it could hurt!

Strong, Smart, and Good Looking, too?
I purchased two pairs of MASHOONGA Warrior Limegreen/black soft sticks so that I, my sister, and my two brothers could spar with them. All of us practice martial arts (or have in the past in the case of my oldest brother). I personally hold a 1st Dan in Karate and hit very hard and very fast. We all fight very intensely, and more often than not, our fights include facial strikes, head shots, body shots, leg shots, arm shot, LOL you get the picture. These soft sticks are hard enough to make you wary of being hit by one (who wants to get hit?) and to behave EXACTLY like a real sword (no bending, twisting, cracking, etc) but are soft enough to not do any damage. Again, I have fought very, very hard with these for many hours already, and not a single one has shown signs of damage or wear. These are the absolute best soft sticks that I have ever purchased and Nothing that I have seen compares to the quality of Mashoonga. Some people here (maybe one or two) have complained of low quality sticks. They may have received an order that was damaged while in transit or just a defective model. I ASSURE you, they are the exception rather than the rule. Every product line has defective copies. In the case that you receive one, you can get it replaced by a GREAT one super fast.I cannot rate these sticks positively enough. Nothing I have found before Mashoonga has ever allowed me to spar with my friends and family as hard, as fast, and for as long without damaging the sticks or each other. Haha~

Relatively fun, safe, and durable.
Which is to say, it depends on how imaginative, cautious, or hardcore your relatives are. This is one of the more popular toys in my "cousins are over" arsenal. My kids like them well enough, but invite a herd of cousins over and I can't own enough of them: they'll strap Nerf guns on their belts, strap a Mashoonga to their backs, and run around dueling and spying and riding bikes and scooters all day. (We try to discourage jousting on bikes with the Mashoonga.)The handle is fairly sturdy and slip-resistant; the foam is fairly dense; and the removable cover is, well, removable. We haven't broken one yet, possibly because the herd (ranging from 7 - 16) has realized that if you hit hard, they *really* can hurt. They do have a bit of bend, though, and I could see a pair of teens boys breaking them. (I say "boys" because the older kids are mostly girls and they prefer to tone it down a bit to avoid painful bust bruising.)We learned this weekend, however, that they are sturdy enough to break your teeth: my son (12) had one of his front teeth snapped in half by a rogue Mashoonga blow from his 13 year-old (female) cousin. She wasn't aiming for his face, it was just bad luck and the dentist capped it the next day, but that's why I say they're relatively safe.As a large extended family, we do have fairly creative and fun kids, so the Mashoonga are just another fun accessory. It won't turn couch-potatoes into duelers, or make mean kids gentle, but if you're looking for something fun to throw into the mix, it's not a bad choice.I'm ordering another pair for summer. And preparing a reminder "No hitting in the face," lecture.

Mashoonga swords are great fun!
My 5 year old son and I have a lot of fun with these swords. They are durable and generally don't hurt when you get hit (and they hurt way less than those plastic light sabers! If we bring them with us to the play ground, they're an immediate hit with the other kids and soon we're having tournaments with all the other kids. You do have to be careful when older children spar with younger children.

Great Concept - Cheap Toy
These are GREAT FUN until they break. And, I couldn't believe how quickly they broke after watching videos of others using them much more intensely.

Great toy once kids learn not to hit each other in the head.My 4yr old is a soft sword expert. We finally broke one sword after more than a year of near daily use.We played the wii swords at someones house and found that to be lame compared to these swords. The green/black set is a little less soft and about 2" shorter than the red/blue set; but both are excellent fun.
