Will not keep your car cool on a hot day
At best this device will provide solar power to charge your electronic devices when the sun is directly overhead. It will not cool your car by any noticeable amount and it stops working altogether when the sun is at around a 45 degree angle. It is easy to install and can be left in the window while driving at highway speeds without any problems. However, the seal between ventilator and the door frame is clearly not water tight, so you will have to remove it when it rains.

Works to air out the new car smell
Bought this vent to air out a new car that still has that “new car smell” after a month of ownership - just couldn’t take it anymore. It has definitely improved the smell and mildly improved the temperature.I bought this expensive model so I could power it with another solar panel laying in the back. This works to keep the fans running most of the time. (It’s fun to hear the fans spin up and down while I drive around.) This also allows me to fold up the external solar panel to keep wind from blowing any rain into the exhaust vent and yet still leave the vent functional. I do have to remember to fold it up.Only real defect so far (other than the price) is a small irregularity along a joint above the vent has allowed a very small amount of water to enter the car. I’m using glue to seal it.Over all, it’s a good product that could use a bit more refinement in design and construction to keep rain out.P.S. The external on/off switch only effects internal solar power. The external solar panel keeps the fans running even when the vent is closed.

I thought the fan was pretty spiffy and the fact that it started immediately out of the package was cool but I've only had it in one day and the packaging said nothing about the rain but I did take it out of the window at the car wash but it's kind of a pain to put it in and out of the window.

It does a great job helping to keep the inside of my vehicle cooler. Trying to get a good seal to keep road noise down... a whole 'other matter.
