awesome. superb even!
I ordered this but amazon shipped me the JBL charge 2 instead, which I understand to be the newer model....? .... Therefore my review is based on the charge 2, which is fantastic! It's great for a patio, dock party, dorm, apartment, torture chamber... you name it! If you're looking for giant effin bass that rocks your junk, well, this isn't it but it will tickle you quite nicely. I'm very happy with this purchase. Good bass for rap and heavy rock/metal. Every now and then I'll crank the new taylor swift, "shake it off", and a dance party always ensues. You won't go wrong. Click buy it now. Do it. Do it now.

I wanted a loud, nice-sounding wireless speaker to put in my bike's water-bottle cage, and I wanted it to have good battery life and easy, automatic connection to my phone. That's what I got, plus more!I have a Samsung Galaxy SII and the battery life is a constant frustration to me, so it's a little weird going out into the country with GPS, Pandora and 40 other things running down the battery. If my phone dies, I could be in a hurt. Since I can charge my phone with this speaker (?!) and its capacity is huge, don't have to worry so much. The Galaxy SII has a hard time connecting to anything, ever, so I got an Android app that automatically connects my phone to my car and this speaker. I think it's called Bluetooth Auto Connect. It's free and has alleviated lots of my frustrage (when you're furious that you have to spend 10 minutes messing with something every two hours because some designer is lazy). The app also allows you to turn on Bluetooth automatically whenever you start charging your phone or have an incoming call, etc. So I just plug in my phone to charge and it turns on Bluetooth and auto-connects to the speaker. My car, which is quite new (why is this happening?), has been having weird electrical business, and sometimes when my phone is charging and/or connected with an aux cable, it will cause...problems. Until I get that fixed, I can bring this speaker with me, and listen to music AND charge my phone if I need to!This speaker fits into a bike bottle cage, so you can listen while mobile without having to add ANOTHER fastener to your bike. I have Velcro strips that are made to strap things onto other things, so I can extra-secure this speaker to the bike. If it fell out I would cry.The round body is a little weird when you aren't using it in a cage. It can roll away. The charger plugs in level with the bottom of the speaker, so it forms a brace to keep the speaker from rolling, but it also keeps you (me) from being able to angle the speaker up. I have it on the floor, now, and want it to point up at me. With the charger in, it won't angle, and without the charger, it will roll. It'd be cool if it were a little more flexible. But I got a barrel-shaped speaker for a reason, and I can probably rig something up, so it isn't that big of a deal.Recently I moved from a large, well-insulated townhouse into a smaller apartment with way more neighbors, way closer to me. So I felt like I had to disconnect my beloved stereo from my computer, to be quieter, and I sucked it up and bought small $11 speakers for watching movies and listening to music late in the evening. Even at low levels they sound horrifying. :( My computer doesn't have Bluetooth, but the Charge has an aux-in, so I can plug it in instead of using those awful speakers. The Charge is nice and loud, if I turn it up, but it doesn't boom bass through the walls like my other stereo would. It sounds amazing, especially for how small it is. I didn't trust Bluetooth audio because it sounds so bad in my car, but I'm a believer now. I'm sure audiophiles would cry, or whatever, but I have moderately high standards and find it very nice. The sounds are very well balanced, especially for a speaker the size of a tall boy. My $11 speakers are bigger than it is.The carrying case is a really nice touch. I haven't put it on yet so I don't know if it even fits, but it looks nicely made. (The charger will not fit inside, however.) I would like to have a waterproof case...I will probably be rocking the Zip-Loc bag for awhile at least. No hands-free calling, which is too bad. I almost got the Logitech UE Mobile Boombox because of that. No app or anything (as far as I can tell) to control the speaker itself. I like to leave the phone volume at about 85% and adjust the volume on the stereo as needed, because it seems to sound better that way. If I'm connected wirelessly 15 feet away with work on my lap, I have no control over the speaker at all (volume, power), and if I get up, I'll forget what I was doing and never go back. Same for lying in bed at night--please, don't make me get up to turn on the speaker. Haha. But seriously. I will never go to bed. A remote-control app would help a lot.Don't forget to bring the right cables with you if you travel with it! It has one USB-to-Micro-USB cable that separates from the charger base, which is nice. But you'll need two cables if you want to charge your phone and your speaker at the same time.I really love this speaker so far. I will update if anything changes, because that's how I am.
