Another Home Run for Civivi
First, let me get this out of the way: If you're on the fence, get this knife, it's fantastic. Now on to the review.Upon unboxing I was greeted with the familiar padded Civivi knife pouch with the knife and a cleaning cloth inside. From there it was business as usual. Before even deploying the blade I did my normal inspection for fit and finish, and things were as expected. The parts all fit tight, with no blemishes on the finish, and a dead center blade. The pocket clip is the standard Civivi deep carry clip, which does it's job well. The handles are a glass filled nylon which seem light and robust, with some good texturing and a great look.Upon placing my finger on the flipper tab I was greeted with some mild jimping for a secure grip. Deployment was smooth and quick, with a solid lock up. The blade can easily be deployed via thumb or index finger as well from the cutout in the blade. The liner lock also has jimping for a sure grip when releasing the lock.Once opened the knife settles well into the hand with no noticable hot spots. It's a full four finger grip, with the ability to choke up on the blade because of the extra space in front of the flipper tab. The only thing missing here, in my opinion, is a little jimping on the spine of the blade to add a secure grip for thumb placement. The blade itself came razor sharp, and with a nice hollow grind and a good belly to the blade it slices easily. This one is going to be a fantastic addition to the EDC lineup for sure.

Perhaps a bit over-hyped?
I've not got a great deal of experience with knives, but did watch and read a ton of reviews before getting the Ortis. For the price, it seems decent, bit I do feel that the majority of the reviews out there seem to hype it up to be more than what it really is.The action is pretty smooth, but not buttery. Some have described it as though it feels like the blade is just "floating" in there...but the one I got is definitely not that smooth. It's pretty sharp, but could do with a proper sharpening session.Build quality overall seems pretty good, although the FRN scales to me do feel like FRN, nothing special really.I do, however, REALLY love the dimensions. That upwards bit of the pocket-clip sits perfectly between my ring and middle fingers, and so it feels super comfortable no matter how hard I grip itI think as an EDC knife it ticks a lot of boxes with references to being lightweight and unobtrusive, and the affordable price does make it a very tempting buy. But don't fool yourself into thinking that you're getting a really premium-built knife.

Perfect, for me.
I don't require a hatchet, and I don't require my knife to be a prybar. If I need those things, I buy those things. What I need in a knife, is what this one offers, wonderful ergonomics, safety features, and a reasonable edge and metal for the price range. I research everything before I buy it, and I knew I wanted something from Civivi specifically, they have some pretty reliable people recommending it. I looked at the entire range they offered and decided this is what I needed, and the price was on point. The Ortis delivered on all of those areas. It's so perfect for my pocket, I could forget it's there, and it's in the perfect price range, where obviously I'd be sad if I Iost it, it wouldn't impact me economically to replace it. It feels perfect for my hand, and I'm 6'1", with relatively large hands. While it's smooth as butter to open, It takes a little effort if you're not used to the flip mechanism, but once you get the hang of it, it's thoughtless, and reliable to execute every time. Wonderful company on top of everything else, Civivi is obviously thinking about their customers, and making what we need, and want, at a price we can appreciate. GG Civivi~!

Benchmade "Fliptillian"
What do you get if you take similar grivory scales of a Benchmade Griptillian but replace the blade with a hollow ground Civivi 9cr18mov clip-point with a flipper tab? Then knock about $60 off the msrp? You get what I call a Civivi "Flip-tillian". Okay, they call it the Ortis but I call it a fliptillian...I think they missed an opportunity there! This is an awesome knife very similar to a mini-griptillian but at a fraction of the price. Lower priced steel but I've had no problems with it and it's easier to sharpen than the s30v Benchmade uses. I find it similar to the cpm154 that Benchmade used to use as far as edge retention.

Wouldn't know its budget
Being a 3rd generation master craftsman of 45+ years as a welder fabricator with extensive experience in major collision repair of high end car si well versed in quality and durability i sort of think i do know hype as well as modesty. Originally bought this knife as a dress carry being lightweight and deep carry. Dont wish to come off as anything other than humble for i know well and have more than my shre of humiliation from younger & wilder times some for a spell on the hypodermic hiway of hell bent and gloriless bound. Now delivered over 33 years i wake daily in gratitude seeking perfection of my skills though never actually hitting that mark but do fair well .i give my 2 cents worth by saying at first it was a bit stiff and tad difficult to open and by no means quick. Working hopefully in my last chapter and coming out of semi retirement im back again pulling frames on major collision. My EDC ( a 100$ knife assisted open ) came apart from the rigors i but one through daily, totally my bad for not paying attention to loosing screws and is totally repairable , i grab this little jewel out my nightstand as temporary use but still rocking it 6 months now . Never use it as a pry bar , clip tool or anthing other than whipping out for cutting use and EDC personal protection. After a little use and getting muscle memory familiar with its off angle and shorter flupper than use to i will confirm that now its as quick as assisted opening EDC 's if not quicker andd for sure smoother. Super slim and light with a feel of quality of more priceir EDC knives. 6 months of daily use it shows zero slop in its functions. Out of many i give it a best for the money EDC that gives CICIVI BRAND a new fan.
