It default closes after 10 minutes. Awesome product!
Very ingenious and super easy to install. I purchased this product because I have some POS neighbors who steal tools from me every time the garage is open. It's pretty simple to install but I did find the instructions lacking. The sensor has to be within an inch of the white reflective tape that is included. You know the sensor is on when you hold the button and music plays increasing in sound. It's off if it decreases in sound. Once the door opens and the sensor sees the tape it will beep 3 times and the LED will start flashing every few seconds continuously. If that doesn't happen you need to move it closer. Open and close the door a few times because the door doesn't always stop at the exact place each time. I could not increase the open time on my unit and it does not tell you how long the door stays open before it closes (hint: it's 10 minutes). At ten minutes the sensor will beep about 16 times to warn you it's closing and then......wait for it......it closes by itself. Everything is hard wired into your opener so no batteries required. I've had this for a few days and it has not opened by itself like other reviews have said. A+ product.

Stopped working after a few months
This product was easy to install and worked flawlessly for the first few months. However, after about four or five months it stopped working completely.

Excellent Product
Easy to install. Easy to operate. Functions as designed. Reasonably priced. We have two garage doors. I bought just one to test it out. After a few tests I ordered a second one.The only challenge is that the reflective tape did not attach easily to our configuration. I just jerryrigged some aluminum foil in its place, exposing the dull side of the foil to the sensor. No big deal.I also recommend watching the installation video (link to video is included with instructions). It helped answer remaining questions I had after reading the paper instructions. The price was well worth the added security this device offers.

Works great but could use some upgrades
I rated this 4 star instead of 5 star because of the beep issues and tape issue as noted below. The instructions were adequate for an easy installation. For some reason the unit beeps every so often, Nothing in the instructions addressed this. It also beeps just before the door closes at the end of the time that you have programmed. The beeps are annoying as others have indicated and other than placing tape over the speaker, I see no other option to quiet it down. If anyone has a way to stop the beeps I would appreciate knowing. I feel it should beep just before closing only. Since it beeps at intervals when the door is open you really don't know which beep identifies when it is about to close. After reading that others had issues with the reflective tape sticking I threw the included tape away and tried Nashua Tape 1.89 in. x 10.9 yd. Waterproofing Repair Tape available at home depot. I always keep a roll of this around because it is a highly reliable tape. It isn't cheap and most likely not worth purchasing if this is your only use. The Nashua tape has an aluminum surface and excellent adhesion and so far has preformed well for this application. Hopefully this unit will give years of service.

Good but no door sensor integration - does not reset timer when sensor tripped, will attempt to shut door w/ sensor blocked
It works as intended - it shuts the garage door after the set time runs out - but is not nearly as polished as the built-in auto close option provided by Chamberlain Liftmaster MyQ lineup. If you are actively using the garage, the Garage Guardian won't know about it.The Liftmaster system monitors the door proximity sensors and resets the countdown any time anyone passes by the sensors. If it starts beeping, just wave your foot across the beam and the countdown restarts. There is no such simple way to abort the timeout for the Garage Guardian (or if there is, I don't know what it is) - it will beep like crazy and then just start to close the door. (Edit: Blocking the sensor will prevent the door from closing and it will try again after another countdown cycle - a little noisy but it does work)I had a Liftmaster MyQ at my old house and ended up replacing the whole garage door opener with another Liftmaster. I tried, but just couldn't get used to the limitations in operation for this one.

Didn't work at all
I got the AC, plug in version. I plugged it in and wired it to the garage door opener (correctly) and all it ever did was beep. It didn't matter if the door was open or closed, it always beeped. But the worst part was, it would not close the garage door (the ONE thing it was supposed to do). I took it back off and send it back.

Good quality, may have to modify to get it installed the way you want it to work.
This product is excellent for those garage door openers that don’t close automatically. It gives you peace of mind knowing that your garage door will not be left open. I installed them on my rental units so that I didn’t have a forgetful tenant leave the garage door open and freeze my water pipes.Relatively easy to install. I had to make some modifications to get it to fit right with my garage door opener, but if works well. The beeping noises it puts out to warn you of closure is a bit loud and annoying, but not terrible and can be felt with by muffling the speaker with some tape.

Works great but beeps frequently for no reason.
Great product for the money, but I have the AC powered version and it beeps 3 times, seemingly randomly all day long.
