Diablo Steel Demon Cermet II Saw Blade for Medium Metal - Triple Chip Cutting Action - 14" x 72-Teeth, 1800 Max RPM - D1472CF

I have an Evolution metal cutting saw that I purchased recently. In the past I have always used a grinder or chop saw with an abrasive blade to cut metal but I was introduced to cold saws about 5 years ago and immediately fell in love with them. They cut quickly, don't make sparks, dust and a mess like abrasive blades do and you can handle the steel immediately without worrying about burning your hand. The biggest drawbacks to these cold cut saws are the blades as they are much more expensive than an abrasive blade and if not used correctly can dull rather quickly. The blade that came with my saw was a multi-material blade which worked fairly well but became dull rather quickly after I cut some stainless steel. I was going to replace it with another Evolution blade that was specifically designed for ferrous metals but in looking around on YouTube found a guy on who had tested many blades and this Diablo came out as one of the best for overall performance. I've used Diablo blades in the past for wood working and was always happy with their performance so I decided to try this one. I've only made about a half dozen cuts so far (on 14 gauge square tubing) but the blade cut quickly, accurately and generated very little heat so so far so good. The biggest question, however, is the one I can't answer yet which is longevity. Will this blade be junk 10 cuts from now or is it going to last for a while? I'll have to reserve commenting on this till I use it more and then update my review but at this time I'm quite pleased.

I installed this in my metal chop saw a week ago. Today I actually used it. I wish I had bought this long ago. I'm tossing my abrasive discs immediately.This provides a fast precision cut that an abrasive disk cannot. The also does not produce the sparks of the abrasive disk,

I have this blade in a Slugger cold saw. First, make sure you have an actual cold saw, not a wood or general purpose saw that holds a 14” blade. These are very ROM specific blades.Second, gently apply the full speed blade to the work material. Don’t smack it down or run it in before reaching full speed.Anyone who says they got less cuts than expected violated these rules.I totally lose track of hundreds of cuts in steel of all shapes and thicknesses. Some are 1/2” thick beams! If you don’t abuse the blade it’ll last better than any other brand. These are also the best value for the $… trust me.

Have used it to make about 20 cuts in stainless. A mix of 4-inch, 16-gauge; 1.5-inch, Sch 10; and 2-inch, 11-gauge. At first it cut smooth as butter with not much heat input. Now it cuts but takes a minute, I have to push it, and it gets hot. I don't expect it will last a lot longer. So figure about $2-$4 per cut. I'll update if it goes longer or dies quicker. I guess if you have a lot to cut, one of the expensive stainless specific blades would be a better choice.Update 08/29/24: I'm up to about 40-50 cuts now all stainless. It won't actually cut the last bit of pipe on each cut. It just sort of grinds through it. I'm going to try and sharpen it with a diamond wheel. However, I did buy another one in the 90 tooth version. For the price I think you get a decent life. In mild steel or aluminum it would probably last forever.

Cut very nice for first two cuts. Third cut difficult and after that completely useless. I expected a lot more from Diablo which is usually pretty good.

Works well in my metal chop saw. Be sure you clamp material well.

After the blade that came with my saw wore out, I installed one of these Diablo D1472CF. It lasted longer than the original blade. Now I have installed the second Diablo D1472CF. It is cutting well.
