Another Excellent Book
The romance overshadowed the intrigue in this book, but still an enjoyable read.I enjoyed the characters and look forward to the next book in the series.

A good book but very short.
The story had good potential but was not developed. The charters were well formed but the action and the story line were not developed. I am not sure I will read more. The first book was great but now the stories seam rushed and forced.

very emotionally touching
“A Code of the Heart” is the third book in The Code Breakers Series by Jacki Delecki. I absolutely loved this book. Miss Amelia Bonnington has had an infatuation for her good friend’s brother Michael Harcourt for many years. Everyone in the Ton believes they will marry. But then she meets Lord Derrick Jeremy Randolph Brinsley at a Christmas party (A Christmas Code – Book 2) and every thought of Michael leaves her head. Lord Derrick is one of my favorite characters so far in this series. He is a spy in the British Intelligence Service and is a secondary character in the first two books.Derrick has been shunned by the Ton for running away with his brother’s fiancé years ago. He is the last person that Amelia wants to associate herself with. He is a giant man who has shut himself off from past pain. When he first meets Amelia, sparks of animosity fly between them. He enjoys poking fun at her and calling her Red for her flaming red mane. But by the second day of their acquaintance, Derrick’s true gentle nature comes out.“Touching her lightly with his fingertips, he smoothed her cheek, her lips, and down her throat. He paused where her pulse leapt and bounded under his seductive touch. He put his mouth on hers. She froze, suspended in the sensation of his soft, warm lips. The rest of the world, the war, the ball, vanished.”Even though this is a standalone, I highly recommend reading the full series beginning with A Code of Love.

Not just good for a series, but a Good stand alone story too!
I realize this is the 3rd book in a series, but this book can stand alone, and is an enjoyable read. This story centers around Amelia, who is a young talented artist, fashion designer. The time period is as England and France are about to go to war, and Amelia is designing her friends wedding gown. Amelia gets her fabric from a shop owned by a French women who had fled France. Amelia worked with the modiste perfecting and collaborating on design and fabric. Amelia found by chance that diamonds were being smuggled into England through the shop, in the body of dolls used to display the latest fashion designs. Amelia and her friend Gwyneth think they can spy to find out who is getting the diamonds, end up in the middle of a spy investigation that's trying to find out who is trying to get England's newest weapon. So this story has all kinds of twist and turns with romance to spy intrigue, in finding a trader. The author kept me interested, and wanting to know what was going to happen next that made it hard for me not to grab a minute or two to read another chapter.

I had high hopes....sigh
I read the first book and was not impressed but the second book was so much better that I had high hopes for this book. It was not bad but it could have been so much better.Maybe the fault is mine for reading a book by a new author immediately after reading a book by a seasoned author. The writing seemed juvenile in comparison. The story itself was not bad - but the book was so short, it came across as rushed. Derrick and Amelia were both likable and we revisit characters from the first two books - which was nice. This book definitely had more steam than the last book - but by no means was it a hot read. Mildly warm at best.If you are a historical purist - you will hate this book. They are waltzing in 1802 - the heroine never seems to have a chaperone - American slang like guys, honey and bars (vs tavern/pub) is liberally used. And don't even get me started on the misuse of formal address.I don't know if I will continue with this series. Maybe next time I will download a sample first and decide from there. I think this author had a lot of potential and will hopefully find her groove soon.

This series is getting better and better
Amelia and Derrick's story is really good. She is a designer and he works for her best friend's husband as a spy.She gets caught up in the spy game when she falls into clues. The twist and turns she gets involved in is enthralling.

I recently read the first book, and have not read the 2 nd as these are stand alone as the minor characters have their own featured book. If you enjoyed Stephanie Lauren’s Bastion Club you will enjoy this combination of romance and intrigue.

Light plot, but enjoyable.
This is the third book in the Code Breakers Series. I have read the other two books, and to some extent they follow the same pattern. The lord sent to ferret out spies determined to steal a new British Weapon arrives on the scene. Our heroine who is well acquainted in the area is more than willing to help find the spies, but unfortunately she doesn't realize the spy everyone is looking for is her dress maker. The story evolves , and while it is light reading, it is enjoyable. I enjoy spy stories, and that is why I read them. Of course, they all have romance between the two main characters, but in this case our heroine finds herself in trouble because of her trust of the wrong person. I would recommend if you enjoy a light plot, you spend a little time with this book.

First impressions are deceptive
Miss Amelia Bonnington has been in love with her childhood hero Michael Harcourt since she was eleven years old or so she thought until a not-so proper impassioned and unyielding kiss from the not-so honourable and equally disreputable Lord Derrick Brinsley, gave her reason to question the feelings of the heart. Derrick Brinsley, shunned from society for running off with his brother's fiancée, hasn't cared about or questioned his lack of acceptance until meeting the beguiling Amelia Bonnington. One passionate moment with the fiery Miss Bonnington has him more than willing to play by society's rules to possess the breathtaking, red-haired woman.Amelia unwittingly becomes embroiled in espionage when she stumbles upon a smuggling ring in the modiste shop of her good friend. To prove her French friend's innocence, she dangerously jumps into the fray, jeopardizing more than her life. This is the third book in the series & could be read on its own. The characters were well portrayed & had depth. The pace was good & drew me in from the start, there were spies & plots to uncover, misunderstandings & secrets all of which made for a very entertaining read. I loved Amelia, a mean cricket player & the lovely Derrick who proved first impressions were deceptive.

Another brilliant addition to the series
This is another brilliantly written addition to an amazing series. The plot is full emotion and mystery, and the characters are crafted with the strength and determination to achieve their goals. This is a great book for all those who love steamy historical romances that have a bit of suspense.
