Haven’t finished it
I saw the movie and now trying to read the book. The only difference I can tell is there book includes more detail, but I really enjoyed the movie.

The kids know best
In this post modern work I’ve been surprised there has not been more critical focus on the kids’ ability to assess danger while the parents remain in denial.

An important book
This book has a lot to offer when read critically. As an English major at MSU, I had three classes in which this book was a required text. The additional essays in this version were insightful and quite useful as well.

Great 80's postmodern book jumping around plots with a Fight ...
Great 80's postmodern book jumping around plots with a Fight Club philosophy on consumerism, sex, religion, and death, (before Tyler was ever thought up). Jack Gladney journeys through the story extremely fearing his own death and fearing to be exposed while giving lectures on Hitler, but Hitler represents death beyond a scale. Now they must escape The Toxic Event. His wife invents a drug to deal with chronic fear, but it has a strange side effect. His phrasing of descriptions and commentary is brilliant. I felt the anxiety build as I devoured the last pages.

Required read
This was a required read for my daughter's Gen. Ed. English class, but she enjoyed it. Very postmodern, but easy to follow and feel connected to the characters.

Didn't get it....
I have to admit I did not understand the humor in this book...nor really much of the point. Since it is a big thing in the high schools or early college, I have to admit that it must be my lack of sense of humor or my limited capability to understand the abstract (?).... Whatever, no one in my 'book club'....better known as the eating and drinking club with the mere mention of the book...'got' it either.

Mein Einstieg in DeLillos Werk

White Noise with criticism
Seriously you want me to review one of the most reviewed books of the late 20th century especially the edition with criticism in it. If you are actually buying this book you either already love it and are either buying a new copy for yourself or friend and simply want the criticism in order to help put it back into the perspective of the times in when it was written or are a student that has to buy it but doesn’t really want to give the university an more money by paying twice as much at the book store. If you are neither of the above then you should probably buy it because it is a really good book by an important author and was written before he was important so it is actually easy and fun to read. The only case in which I would recommend against it is if you are a physicist looking for an actual book on “ white noise” or a white supremacist ( actually you should definitely buy it because it does mention Hitler a lot in a fairly neutral way and you will likely miss the irony and actually enjoy most or all of it) glad to find that fellow white people are finally making some noise in which case you will be disappointed.
