Amazing and vital
Matthew Roberts has written a remarkably vulnerable and generous narrative of his experiences with Initiation. I capitalized that on purpose. Because we are talking about experiences with the unknown which have taken him to his limit and beyond. Beyond to full realization. For me the great value of this book lay in its detailed description of the initiation process. How synchronicities, a trail of clues, integration, emotional breaking points, breakthroughs, all play a part in tearing down one's conditioning in the service of allowing Beingness to reform one's expression/perception. Even more importantly he points out that his individual Hero's Journey is part of a larger collective call at this time for the mass transformation of humanity. Whether we are called by the paranormal, or an NDE, or trauma, we must search out guidance to complete our Initiation much as the author has done. That alone is how we save the planet--and ourselves. Thank you, Matthew Roberts for your fearless work.

Riveting and extraordinary
I agree with another user's review, this is going to be a very hard book to read if you have not "went down the rabbit hole". A lot of claims in here that the majority of people will scoff at and consider Roberts to be mentally ill, if not an outright liar, which he acknowledges in the book. In my perspective however, it was eye opening. Written in a very easy to read writing style, he covers a wide variety of topics that culminate into an idea that we are meant for something greater and the knowledge is within all of us, if only we would take the time to find what that is.

Step back and question
This book is all over the place, but so is our world and the clues scattered therein. I read these books about paranormal experiences and then offer cautions usually. The author, Matthew Roberts, has been reading and studying for answers for a relatively short time. Some of us are older and have been at it a long time and have seen some cautionary tales along the way.Consider the old teaching, As above, so below. This is a truth, indeed. Now look around. We live in a world of predation. Everything feeds on something else. And like stars and galaxies, we all are set to be absorbed by something else, by degrees. The instinct of all animals is to avoid and escape their predators. We train and trick and raise our prey, however. Some of our prey come to trust us.We don't have to hurt and use and eat the more sentient beings, yet we do. Some humans enjoy inflicting pain. Some are deadened to it. We grow up detached from the torture and slaughter. Perhaps if and when we ever treat animals with compassion, then humanity will find a way to avoid being prey themselves. Because I think we can fight it. But messengers of deception -- nod to Vallee's book -- would have us deluded into compliance and beatific submission.Brainwashing is a thing. Brain manipulation is a thing. Some parts of our DNA and our brains are turned off, suppressed, and not activated. We don't see things as they really are. But there are ways to touch the truth, if we don't hide from it and deny it.As above, so below. As below, so above.I'm afraid that Matthew Roberts's credibility is being used to sell us more of the snake oil -- the manipulative illusions. Still, I appreciate his telling of his story. There is something to be learned from it, but probably not what he thinks. His initial instincts and reactions were the correct ones, I say with some certainty. What I got from the book is that Roberts is entrapped by forces outside himself, and some part of himself has tried to guide him out of it, but he has ignored this.A red flag is when someone thinks he or she is special and set apart with special understanding. I don't think Roberts is seeing himself and his situation clearly. He claims to be free enough of attachments that he can lecture others about attachment. But he smokes cigarettes. A lot. I don't think we can get guidance on freedom from attachment if the guide is addicted to something. Except as a cautionary tale.I think this entire book is a cautionary tale, but I give it three stars for effort. I've seen so many people led down the garden path to no good end. All I can say is good luck.

A Mythopoeic Approach to Alien Intrusion
A real curiosity among books dealing with alleged alien intelligences and their intrusions into consensus reality. Mr. Roberts command of mythology and Jungian analysis in coming to some personal understanding of his experiences is brilliant and groundbreaking. His retelling of the Demeter/Persephone myth from the Homeric Hymns is riveting, and these hymns become a 'Greek chorus' if you will in framing his personal narrative. The raw emotion and suffering he endured is palpable in coming to some degree of acceptance of his journey. This is a much more nuanced account than Whitley Streiber's and cast against a broader less egocentric background. His frequent bouts of uncontrolled weeping gets a bit tiresome, but the book moves along at an engaging pace. The complexity of what Mr. Roberts has experienced will take some time to intellectually digest even for those grounded in Ufology, forteana and anomalous research. Take your time with this book and the rewards are there.I commend him for his willingness to share this innermost journey into the unknown. Like the mythic motifs he works with, he's the wounded Fisher King and the motherless child of Masonic lore. Some degree of knowledge about classical mythology is helpful. Highly recommended.

The Examined Life
I viewed Matthew's compelling and riveting presentation at a conference. He shared his inspiring reads: The Kybalion, by Three Initiates and The Archetype of Initiation; Sacred, Ritual Process and Personal Transformation, that I decided to read before his book, Initiated.Matthew's experiences delves into the complexity of life. His curiosity opens several path for him to seek answers from his questions. He shares his vast knowledge from Greek Mythology, Ancient History, Science, Astronomy, Paranormal & UFOS, and Psychology;Jung's Archetypes. Matthew navigates the known and unknown worlds to accomplish his personal transformation. His truthful, insightful story is powerful. I highly recommend this read.

Thank you ❤️
I really loved this book. Ever since childhood, I've been grappling with my own paranormal experiences. Last year, I saw a UAP and began to wonder if somehow everything that has happened was related. Reading this book was a revelation. It almost seemed like it was written for me. Thank you for writing this and sharing your wisdom.
