I grew up eating Chipped beef on toast and I love it. It is hard to find in stores.

I like making homemade flour gravy using sausage or bacon drippings, and simmering these meat slices in them. Im a retired Marine and I used to have this on toast several times a week for years. The new wussy feminist military calls it chipped beef gravy, but we all called it "schiff on a shingle", if you know what I mean.

I have a slow cook chicken recipe that requires this ingredient. It is delicious because of the dried beef.

I was pretty unhappy with this purchase. The old people coming on here saying how great it is are just reminiscing about the old days. I get that.But truth be told, this product is pretty inedible. At least boil the meat for while to leave out the majority of the salt before eating. I did that with the second jar from my order, and it marginally removed some of the sodium.The reality is that Conagra, the manufacturer is setting the pricepoint way to high.I was curious about something since I'd read a few responses to my product question, and sent off an email to Conagra about the source of the meat. They carefully worded their response to my question that raised a few of my eyebrow hairs. I'll post it below in its entirety so you can be the judge. I virtually guaranty you that this meat ain't coming from cows butchered here in the US. So realistically, we don't know what exactly is in this product. I love chipped beef on toast… si I bought this but two jars were broken upon arrival. That’s a lot of money tossed out! Could have done better than bubble wrapped and put into a package. It needed to be put into a box
