Adaptor would not maintain a connection with the European type plug
I have had this driveway alarm for several years with no problems until a receiver went bad. Not a big problem, just bought two new receivers and two new sensors, until I received the new units. The plugs are for European type wall receptacles not the USA type. So you have to fit an adaptor onto the plug. Unfortunately the adaptor does not maintain a tight fit and in-order to maintain an electrical connection it has to be wrapped with tape. Both receivers have the same problem so it was not that one was defective. I can't spend over $200 for defective equipment, so These will be returned and I'll go to a complete new system.

Works most of the time
We have had a variety of drive way alarms. This one works most of the time except it doesn't detect white vehicles. We have a white Buick Lucerne and a Yukon XL that is also white and it never detects either of these. Have lowered the sensor so it would detect the wheels and it still doesn't work. Not sure why that is. All our other alarms sensed only metal. They worked well when they worked but something was going wrong with either the transmitter or the receiver all the time. This one doesn't have the range the others did but we are at the 1000ft. limit. It is clear line of site but doesn't always detect as we have two receivers and the counts are always different on them. It doesn't go off in thunderstorms like the other did but we know every time an animal walks up the drive. At times this is quite annoying as we live way out in the country.

Great system
This is a very good system. No problems with moisture or other outside conditions except one; the screws are inset on the back cover for battery access. Having this system mounted on post about 350ft from receiver, worked with no problem except insects (dirt dauber type) building up mud inside the screw access. This made it near impossible to get to the screws, and ultimately, could not get one of them out. That being said, this system works like a champ otherwise. I had this system for over 3 years, as I write this review. Give it 5 stars for how well it does the job, 3 stars for design of the screws access (if these had been flat on outside cover, would not have been an issue). Will order again, just cover the screw holes with something.

The best of its kind - revised review
This is the best driveway alarm I've ever owned - and I've been collecting these devices for many years. All others have either failed or come up short. The Rodann units receive at a great distance (claimed 1000', my application 250' through concrete and blocking trees.) The receivers and transmitters (sold separately) are built beautifully, weather sealed and American made. This is the second of two receivers I've purchased and everything works well - with very few false alarms. There's a 1-year warranty but it is not listed in the box. The company can be reached at 800-366-7010, and they are more than willing to answer questions and solve problems. Although the price of these units is not cheap, they're worth every penny paid for them.Review addendum 07/21/15: I've now had this wireless driveway alarm installed on my gates (275' from receivers) for 2-years. It still works perfectly in any weather but you do have to change the transmitter battery (9-V) every 8-months to a year, depending upon how much it's used. Still the best such device I've every tried.

You can't beat it.
I have two of these units and 4 receivers. One of the units is located at the entrance of our property to announce anyone coming up the driveway. That transmitter is 475 feet from the house and we have no problem receiving it's signal. One of the receivers is locate in my workshop (a metal building behind the house) and it picks up just as good. The 2nd transmitter is located in my pole barn where I keep my mower and tractor (I've had a prowler steal gas form the barn, but thanks to the alarm I caught him in the act.) The pole barn is about 250 feet from the house and there is no signal problems from there either.I've set the alarm tones so that they're different, that way I can tell which one is going off.I've tried several alarms before, but this one is the best so far.

Great Tech Support
Purchased the Rodan Driveway Alarm almost 2 years ago. The unit became non functional despite change of batteries at transmitter and re positioning. Called tech support and the original design engineer walked me through a fix and gave me tips for future use as well. So helpful and the unit with 2 receivers once again works great. We live in the upper midwest with harsh winters. I recommend the Rodann driveway alarm system for quality and great customer service.
