Q: Do these work on a non mesh type sneaker? I have a pair of New Balance.

I have them on mesh style and all leather New Balance sneakers. I think they work great. On the New Balance shoes I used the chrome barrel connector and on y other shoes I tied the laces like a traditional shoe lace. Easy on and off.

Q: are these laces flat or round?

It really doesn't matter because they are worthless. Once you lace the sneaks with them, you will not be able to get them on. I threw them in the trash. Save your money and get some sneakers with velcro .

Q: Can you do the barrel lock one handed?

I think the idea is that once the fasteners are fastened, you don't have to do that repeatedly. You just stretch the laces with the tongue of the shoe, and put them on. So, if you're working with one hand, and you might need some help for that part, at least it would be just once! =) Good luck, and take care!
