Outrageously Funny! Pearls Is Brilliant!
Once again Stephan Pastis delivers in PEARLS AWAITS "THE TIDE". This treasury has both hilarious comic strips from his dailies, but commentary on how they were written, which adds to the delight even more. Just knowing the whacky POV and inspiration for his comics brings insight into his genius. PEARLS BEFORE SWINE continues to be inventive and flat out funny after all of these years. Pastis' strip consistantly stands out on major newspapers' comics' pages & web sites. This compilation is terrific. Bravo!

Pastis comes through again!
Pastis continues to be one of the most prolific, funniest comic artist in existence. His strips are always the high point of the comics page in the paper, and his compilations, with their hilarious footnotes, are a must-read. I hope he never runs out of material.

What an amazing treasury
One of his best yet. Stephan really outdid himself with this one. I've been going through an emotionally hard time, and this was the perfect pick me up. Thanks for bringing us all so much love, laughter, and light Pastis. You are the best!

As hilarious as usual
It's a paperback, with Sunday strips in color, rest B&W. Don't miss Pastis' comments as he takes you back to the future (well, it was future then) into pandemic times... Or was it Land of confusion?

Life in three (or more) panels
I live for Pearls! Great collection of Steph's comic and a great guide to life. Try every day to be a little more like Pig and a little less like Rat. And for God's sake... Don't be like Larry!

J'ai adoré
Un humour varié et intelligent. Aucun talent en dessin, mais who cares!!! Très bon livre, je recommande. J'ai eu un bon temps.

Read this strip
The paperback version isn't available in the UK for another couple of months, so I had to settle for the Kindle version for now, but to be honest, I'll probably end up buying both. This is the newest treasury edition of Pearls, leading up towards the start of the pandemic. This is quite possibly my favourite strip. While it doesn't have the artistic quality of say a Calvin and Hobbes, it is more than its equal in heart. There is a wonderful quality to the writing, the majority of the time it will make you smile, however there are the odd strips that really tug at the heartstrings.Saying that there are also all the pun strips. If you're not reading Pearls, you should be

Well worth the wait
It is always a pleasure to receive and indulge in a new "Pearls" treasury, even if it seems a long time between editions. Stephan Pastis's comments, insights, and occasional self-deprecating remarks only add to the enjoyment. It might be interesting to include a commentary by his wife Staci in the next book...
