Southern ComfortBlack Liqueur With Whiskey, 1L, ABV 40%

So taste is subjective, of course it is. I've been a lover of SC for more years than I care to remember but always hit the stage where it becomes a little too sweet. I didn't know this version existed so was pleased to have seen it by chance at the Black Friday price.I expected the very first taste to be one of those 'wow' moments but it wasn't and I was disappointed! Yes it's smooth, yes it has the characteristics of SC and no it's not as sweet, but it just didn't have that 'kick' that I was hoping for.Would I buy it again at full price? No. At somewhere near the Black Friday price? Yes probably now I know what I'm getting.....

I wasn't sure what to expect with this Southern Comfort Black. I haven't had SoCo for a while. I enjoy the normal one but, despite having a sweet tooth, it can get a bit too much in excess.This Black Southern Comfort is a but like a blend of SoCo original and bourbon. The taste is surprisingly good, with the bourbon whisky and it's smokey oak notes coming through over the SoCo flavour. If you like SoCo and bourbon, you'll love Soco Black.I've only tried this neat. I never mix Southern Comfort with mixers. It's pleasant to drink and I can highly recommend it. I'm glad I bought 2 bottles whilst it was on offer.

I’m my opinion. It tastes different to the normal Sounthern Comfort. It has a more whiskey taste to it. I wasn’t keen on the first bottle. But I got a second as a gift. And it’s quite nice. If you haven’t tried it. Give it a go. But do not expect it to taste as lovely as the normal Southern Comfort.

Awful harsh taste that hits you right in the back of your throat. I cannot drink this.

Slightly different to the ‘normal’ one. Not really spicy, just a little less sweet, which is good! This one is 40% where the normal one has dropped to only 35% When I first tried it, it used to be something like about 56% I should have bought more bottles as the price now has more than doubled!!! I’m liking this more and more, most delicious!

Not as smooth as the original. Has that yacky aftertaste like JD. Needs to be mixed with coke etc. Much prefer the original. Of course taste is subjective.

Taste is personal but was expecting to be fruity and to be a great taste, this wasn't the case with no wowsers moment and just a bland every day taste. If you want to taste southern comfort then go for the original, was expecting more and left disappointed.

I had a stronger SoCo in New York some years ago and it was broadly the same drink, just stronger. This Black Label is... OK, but oddly dry on the palate, like a Zinfandel wine is, but lower on the distinctive flavour of SoCo. I think on balance, I'd rather have the lower strength and better flavour, although you may feel differently. Try it.
