Product Description Chris Standring returns in 2014 with another musical left turn with Don't Talk, Dance!, a deep European progressive soul-jazz-dance influenced project featuring the best funk and soul studio musicians in Los Angeles. This 13-track set features Chris as arranger, orchestrator and producer, along with his signature solo jazz and fusion guitar sounds. Drawing on 70's style funk and soul inspiration, Chris raises the bar once again with an album that is impossible to sit still to. The first radio single "Sneakin' Out The Front Door," features Chris on guitar talkbox, and harks back to a time reminiscent of early Jeff Beck or Herbie Hancock, with a hook that is clearly all Chris Standring. Review While this is a Chris Standring joint from top to bottom, the mixing here may be the best work Standring has ever done. Never consistently out front nor buried behind the beat, Chris Standring is a lyrical chameleon of controlled sonic fury methodically weaving his voice in and out of the mix as needed. Never ostentatious. Never boring. Never out of style.Contemporary jazz has just been put on notice! --criticaljazz.comIn an age where many musicians are content to recycle the same patented riffs time and again with different titles, it's rewarding to hear one who keeps going beyond expectations as Standring does here. Don't be surprised when Don't Talk, Dance! ends up appearing high on numerous 2014 "Best of" lists! --allaboutjazz.comYet again, Standring boldly goes where few will venture outside the boundaries of contemporary jazz ...Don't Talk, Dance!travels beyond the realm of coolness, merging dance, electronic, chill and soul to offer the perfect melange of music ...the album is so hip, it hurts! --wave.fm

Good Follow Up to Electric Wonderland
Having listened to most of Chris Standring's CDs over the years, this one is a keeper. His guitar is featured more prominently in his other works, but on Don't Talk, Dance, you hear less, but in new and interesting places. There is more emphasis on pop, and as Mr. Standring has said that when he makes a CD he always tries to find a balance between being creative and making a hit song. In the music business that balance is always difficult. This CD is upbeat with some new vibes, but sure to entertain and relax. I would definitely recommend it for the long time fan and even for someone looking for something new to listen to.

Different, but still must have for existing Standring fans and other music lovers alike
It's not classic Standring, and not quite so smooth as normal, but because Chris avoids the obvious and retains his hallmark musical fluidity, I can still see die hard Standring fans liking this album. What's more: this album will likely also appeal to people who normally don't like smooth jazz at all. It keeps amazing me how Chris manages to keep producing new music that's fresh as well as comforting.

... time I have heard of Chris and I am glad I have been introduced to his music
This is the first time I have heard of Chris and I am glad I have been introduced to his music. I really enjoy upbeat Jazz music that I will call "Grown Folk Music". Great for chillin' around the house or when out and about with my iPod.

Truly impressive
When I got my first Chris Standring cd, I was impressed. He is truly an amazing guitar player. This project is a testament to his true talent. This cd is a foot stomping, finger popping wonder. Chris has truly displayed his uncanny ability to continually produce outstanding projects. Way to go, Chris. Keep on doing, what you're doing.I love this one as well as all the others by him that I own. :)

Una joya oculta
Chris Standring es un artista poco conocido en España, pero es una autentica maravilla, y este trabajo, como el resto de su discografía absolutamente recomendable.

Can't write still dancing.
Chris Standing, has turned out an ace album. My Girl friend does'nt like Jazz much but She cannot get enough of this album. Chris plays a superb guitar, & with the hypnotic club beats racing after his fret work. Its the best of both worlds. You like Clubs, you like Jazz funk. Go enjoy.

a bit disappointing
Disappointing. Lacks soul and needs more guts. I wouldn't really recommend this album from any angle. I was expecting "get up guys let's bop!"
