More great stuff from Clarence Bass!
I'm a huge fan of all of Clarence Bass's books, but I must say that Ripped 3 is my favourite. Common sense knowledge that's easy to apply, both for nutrition and workouts, and Ripped 3 doesn't disappoint!

Must have
Are you kidding me! The series is a must have for the bodybuilder. It is an eye opener and buckstrends of todays of "high protein". The short of this is it works. In less than three months I have droppedover 20lbs and nobody thought I had to loose weight. Of course I lost some muscle which, Mr Bass will explain to you.The cool thing is I feel great, I have lost no strength gaining in some exercises. I am seeing detail that makes me giggle and say things like "F#%*!*g Aye"!

just brilliant, something to aspire to
This guy was more ripped than Bruce Lee. You look up ripped in the dictionary and you should see this guy's picture. I'm not saying everyone has to be like that, but you can sure learn a lot from this author and he writes well too. I have all three Ripped books and this is the best of the three.

Clarence makes things clear
This MAY be the best book I've read on periodization for bodybuilding- it's certainly one of the best. Clarence presents his plan clearly, without unnecessary jargon or complication. And he provides "The Reasons", as promised. Also provided is "up to date" information on cardiovascular conditioning and stretching(surprising that it's so "current" given this was released in 1986). I know of no other bodybuilding book, from the 1980's, that discusses things like interval training or waiting until the end of one's workout to stretch. Actually, Ageless Athletes(1988) by Richard Winett, PhD, lays out some interval training(and periodization)plans, but I'll give you one guess as to where he got his ideas from!Clarence also details his eating methods to retain his low body fat and muscularity throughout the year- complete with recipes. There is still a wealth of good information in this section but it's definitely dated. For example, I do not recall the role of healthy fats being discussed and- if I remember correctly -I think he advises against eating certain types of fatty fish like salmon! Obviously, we know better now.In conclusion, the vast majority of the content holds up today. Thirty years later, Ripped 3 is still a winner.
