Works. Mostly.
The instructions for this cable kit are somewhat annoying. It is clearly a third-party product that has been re-packaged, re-purposed and re-sold. I know this because the included instructions were for wrapping the cable around household plumbing pipes. I had to go to the website for the specific instructions to install on the bowl. The main problem with this heater is that it is located on the bottom of the bowl. As a result, the top of the bowl can still freeze over when it gets cold enough. I sometimes have to go outside and remove the thin sheet of ice on top of the water. I also haven't had any really cold days yet. I live in Central Ohio, so you need a serious cold snap to get much below 25 degrees. We haven't had one of those this year. I will update if we get some seriously cold weather to see how it handles it.UPDATE: Yeah, it didn't handle it well. Yes, the bottom of the bowl stays liquid, but if the top of the bowl freezes over, what good is it? Basically, it helps for temperatures between about 25-32, and then it's pretty much useless.

Works well, but tricky to install.
It does what it says but it doesn’t mention the need to electrical-tape the cable to the hose every few inches, nor that the only spot it senses the temperature is in one spot that you must tape to the metal fitting on the hose. Works great, just takes precision to install with a little paper sheet, two brackets and a few screws.

Everything was fine except the bowl
The cable works! It was -25 last week in Denver. I have the heat cable wrapped around everything including the outdoor faucet. Everything was fine except the bowl. This is not the heat cable's fault it is the design of the bowl mounts. The mounts around the bowl are up and down. They do not allow the heat cable to lay flat against the bottom of the bowl. The water at the bottom of the bowl stayed defrosted. The water at the top of the bowl was frozen. This would have been a non issue if the cable would lay flat against the bottom of the bowl. I packed the bottom of the bowl with insulation and covered with tape as the instructions suggest. This helped a little but the top still froze. Once again it was 4 days of 0 to -25 temps.

Nice idea, but product needs improvements.
The biggest problem for me is the fact that my dog this its a toy and wants to try to drag it around the yard and chew on it. This should not be made of plastic. I didnt think this all the way through when I bought this product. Also needs a way to be able to stake it down so my dogs cant knock it over and flood my yard while Im at work.

Terrific Water Bowl Heater
This works great. It was a little tricky to install because the pictures aren't great. But I often don't take my time so I installed it bassackward the first go round. The little square thermostat thingy goes near where you screw the hose in to your water source. Be very careful not to screw the crews too far or they will pierce the bowl. I almost did that too. Because I am an idjit. I have not had any frozen water in this bowl at all. My dogs are suitably impressed by the fact that this bowl does not freeze. They think I am magic.

The video is worthless because there is no bull
They don't show you how to install the cord to your own bowl because they keep showing a bowl that is indestructible but they don't include it so a lot of good the video is with the product that's not even included.

Simple install
The installation was fairly simple, but the directions were awful. Luckily it wasn't too complex.

Not bad for moderate temps
Cable does not come with screws to install or instruction. Also if the temp outside drops to lower than 20 degrees water will freeze the thermostat does not adjust.
