Super, except...
This review is for the 3/5 in gold. For £70ish it's absolutely incredible, but after agonising for 3 weeks I decided to return it. Obviously buying through Amazon made the return simple and painless. As other reviewers might have said, out of the box, and then out of the lovely pouch, this reel has a look and feel that you'd expect to pay much more for. If it sported one of the big, famous brand names you'd pay three or four times as much without questioning.Subjectively, from a couple of angles I found the real very aesthetically pleasing, specifically looking at the real squarely on to the front or the back. Being niggley, looking at the reel while looking down the length of the rod, I thought the drag knob sticks out more than it needs to unless it's really cold necessitating wearing mittens. The circumference of the drag knob is nicely knurled so even at half the thickness there'd still be ample ease of grip. I have to say the machining of the reel as a whole is top notch, no free play and annoying clicks, and the drag itself seemed beautifully smooth across the range. Not that I'm qualified for my opinion to be worth anything. In real life, 95% of the time I'd keep the drag at minimum and palm, which this reel would allow.I would've liked to have been able to keep this reel. I'd bought it to go with a 7'3" #3 rod. Sage SPL. OK so I know that's an 'old' rod and this is a new 3/5 reel. The balance was tip heavy (somewhere in those mm between the top of the handle and the fly keep ring). I know adding backing and fly line would have improved the balance slightly. But, the deal breaker for me was the thickness of the reel foot; the reel foot hardly fitted into the seat under the handle. It didn't feel secure. To be fair, this could be a fault of the rod more than the reel. However, I'll say both a Sage 2560 reel and Danielsson FW 5-7 fit the rod perfectly and balance it better.

Light in weight well structured
Bought the 5/7 returned it for 7/9 as I like to have a large backing was very impressed with both as they are well finished and would rate well with more expensive reels I have would certainly purchase again I use mine on the larger Irish lakes

A beautiful reel to look at just has a locked up drag nut.
The reel looked very good, until I tried to use the drag nut it was locked solid. The drag just wouldn't move one way or the other.I am not a happy customer.
