Animal Amigurumi to Crochet (Annie's Crochet)

I've taken to making outfits for my stuffed animals, so I've had to invent many a design along the way. Now I've decided to put my two passions -- stuffed animals and crocheting -- into a useful purpose. (I'm making stuffed animals for people dealing with tragedies.)But now, I've been used to following what seems right to me more often than directions. What I love about this book is every time I do that, it doesn't work right, so I have to go back. And I have. I've also learned some of my own quirks from years of crocheting without directions. But this book still works, even if the stuffed animals have different dimensions.I'm averaging a stuffie a month, (while watching TV at night.) I can see me needing to buy this book several times to make sure I'll have it years down the road.Thank you ever so much, Teri Shaw. You're my kind of quirky, but much better at directions than I've ever been! Brilliant!

So far I have completed one animal (the monkey) and started a second (the giraffe). Overall I really like this book so far, instructions are easy to follow and the animals actually turn out similar to the pictures. The reason I gave it a 4 star is for two reasons. 1) It tells you to stuff the pieces close to the end of making them, thankfully I read ahead or I may not have been able to get all the pieces stuffed without having to use a crochet hook or something smaller to shove the filing in, because some of the pieces are pretty narrow. 2) Instructions on how to attach limbs/ears/eyes/etc. are not very specific so you kind of have to look at the pictures and make your best guess.Finally I want to make a note of size, I found the animals to be smaller than I expected. Overall great book!

I had seen some similar style animals to crochet in a craft catalog. The kits are $20 each plus about $6 shipping. Wow. Then add all your hours work..... When I saw this I thought I'd give it a try. It has such a wonderful selection of well designed, thought out animals! The instructions are easy to follow providing you already know how to crochet. If you're a beginner, you're going to be flipping back and forth in the book to refer back to the instructions on the stitches that are used. So, (how to)stitch instructions are included along with the instructions for each individual critter. I wouldn't suggest this book for a beginner, but rather for someone who knows the basic stitches and can read (clear, concise) instructions. It's better than a kit because it's less expensive per critter and you can choose any yarn you like. That allows for creativity. :)

These are really fun to make up and turn out just as cute as the photos suggest. I absolutely love this booklet! And a beginning crocheter shouldn't have any problem with these patterns either. They are easy to read and to follow. Expect success, right there at the end of your crochet hook!I did find that using softer yarns is easier than heavier stiffer yarns like Red Heart Super-Saver. Lion Brand's Wool Ease works up well, for one suggestion. I've made the cat, the bear and am now working on the elephant. The only problem I found with this book is how to decide which pattern to make first!!

This book has very clear instructions. The animals are very cute. My only fault with it is that they turn out much smaller that I expected.

This is a very attractive book, it is a coffee time book but once mastered should give me years of pleasure, biggest problem is which to start first, I think it will be the simply cute dog.Buy it the price is amazing.

I bought this book to have some easily animal crochet designs to make as gifts when I was very new to amigurumi. Some of the patterns are lovely, I particularly loved the elephant and the bear is cute, but many of the patterns are rather strange. The hippo in particular is a very odd design, and many of the animals look rather depressed, and so I reworked the faces rather than following the directions exactly. The patterns are easy to follow and the instructions clear. A good guide for those just starting to crochet, or new to amigurumi.

This is a lovely little amigurumi book, well laid out and written with clear instructions (american terminology). I bought this as I have recently joined a craft group that makes crochet and knitted toys for the local hospital. I'm still relatively new to.crochet and a complete novice at amigurumi so wanted something relatively simple as a starting point. All the featured toys in this book are extremely cute so I've no doubts they will be adored by the children they are donated to.

Deeply disappointed. Easy to follow to crochet but no instructions on how to assemble animal. Eyes to be put on the incomplete head before finishing....but WHERE? Which end of head is top or bottom? Where does elephants trunk get joined on. I'm lost. Hopeless. Unless you're psychic don't buy this book. I'm an accomplished crsftslady but this beats me! Sorry as was so excited to get my book.
