Best sourdough yeast I've used.
I used this starter a couple years ago. I love it, but it is sour. The Bahrain variety is supposed to be one of the most sour, and if you feed and maintain it properly that is true. The only one star review was because it was said to be "too" sour, but sourness IS the point of culturing this particular yeast.

Too sour
Been using cultures for many years but this wasn't pleasant at all. Even following the directions to the letter this was sour to the point of smelling rotten, not sharp and clean.

The Sourdough Starter I Was Hoping For
I was excited to get this sourdough starter from Ed Woods several weeks ago. It came in dry form inside a package with instructions on how to activate it. I followed the directions and it activated just as the instructions said it would. It really helps to have a copy of Ed's book which explains everything one needs to know about baking sourdough bread. I'm enjoying every loaf of bread I bake using this starter. It has performed wonderfully!

Very good
Directions were easy. My bread has been perfect with this starter. Had a starter 10 years ago, this one is as good as that one was.

Hearty healthy cultore.
This is a great culture for sourdough. I sought a sourdough not as sour as San Francisco. This is perfect. I have done all manner of bad things in keeping this culture going, particularly neglect. It just gets better and keeps on going.

This starter puts the dour in sourdough!
This is s very good sourdough starter with a good strong “sour”flavor, it gives a vigorous rise and I am quite pleased with it. I did have a problem getting it started out, but once it did get going well, it hasn’t look d back! I highly recommend it.
