Very bright, brightest all weather LED PAR38 out there
I wanted to take one star off for the price but I figured this review will be purely on the product. Its new but its still a bit insane to spend $50 on a single light bulb even if its LED.Otherwise, this does put off a ton of light and it's Sylvania so I'm hoping/expecting it will last. The color quality is very good and I spent the money because it does offer significant savings over an equivalent 250w halogen as well as the convenience of not having to climb a 2 story ladder in a year or two when the Halogen needs to be replaced.Having trouble with the HIGH PRICE TAG? Do the math:Even at this high price the energy savings over a halogen will cover the cost of the bulb quickly. "But I'll just wait until the cost it drops in a year and save the $30/$60 on two/four bulbs." DO the math. In my usage, by the time the price likely drops to $35 in a year (assumption) or the competition matches this bulb at that price, I will have saved $15 in energy costs. That means I'm even on the savings and I went a year wasting energy so why not buy it now and face the ridiculous price phobia?I'm glad I bought this and was able to easily retrofit it into the sockets (no different than a normal halogen) already in place rather than buying one of those industrial high output units that can't be angled.I may suggest getting the silicone weather resistant O-rings to put on the sockets if the bulbs are exposed to the elements and especially if they are angled far outward.

is moderately cool to the touch
This appears to be a one of a kind LED bulb. It is amazingly bright, has very even beam coverage, is moderately cool to the touch. It is expensive, but well worth the cost. If you are inserting it into a ceiling can at high ceiling height, the bulb grabber on the end of a pole will not work. It is so good that it is worth the building of a scaffolding. This is an hands-down superior bulb to a 250 watt halogen. One of these 2400 lumens bulbs will do the work of five 450 lumens bulbs.

Super bright, but slightly cooler light then halogen
Using these to replace my exiting GE Lighting 66286 Energy-Efficient Halogen 90-Watt (120-watt replacement) 1900-Lumen PAR38 Floodlight Bulb with Medium Base for indoor use. We have 16 of these GE's in a large great room and was never really thrilled by the amount of light they generated These LED's are more then 2x the price, but for that you get much longer life (well at least in theory, I haven't have these LED's long enough to really comment) and much brighter. The claim here is that these Ultra LED Night Chasers are "250W equivalent" and 2400 lumens and compared to the 1900 lumen halogens they are very noticeably brighter- I'd say about 1.5 to 1.75x as bright. Moving our dimmer to slightly above half-way is pretty close to what the halogens were at full power. That said, the light from these LED's are a little cooler then the halogens- so if you like very warm light then these may not be for you. The difference is noticeable, but not huge- acceptable for indoor home use, but honestly not great.

30% WILL BE defective
The media could not be loaded. I bought 60, that's right 60, of these to replace the house lights (lights over the audience) for a church. I needed something that was around 2000 lumens in a 40 degree or more spread, 3000K color, dimmable, LED. This the ONLY bulb available that ticks all those boxes. All other solutions are custom and get into replacing the fixtures, which was cost prohibitive for us.So I bought them. "A bit pricey, but they're from Sylvania, it'll be worth it," I said. While I can't say I wish I would have replaced the fixtures, these lights are infuriating. One of them was DOA, but there must be QA issues at the factory because 20%-30% of the bulbs will flicker or flash, even if you never dim them.I installed all of them, brought my lights up to full, and within about 5 mins, 4-5 of them started alternating between full bright and slightly dim (maybe 70% of full brightness) at random intervals. It looked like a disco in there! I took them out in order to return them. In the time it took to process the return, another 3-4 bulbs started flashing. They've been up for two months now, and in total I think I've replaced 9. I replaced with the same type, and I had to buy 16 to replace the 9, cause 30% of the new batch will be broken. And what's most challenging is that at some point a bulb will flash. The next day it'll stop, and work fine. Then 2 weeks later, it'll start flashing again. It's really been a headache, but we've managed.Fortunately, we can change our house lights with a pole, so we don't have to get the lift. If you had to use a lift, the man-hour costs or machine rental costs to change out the defective bulbs would not be worth it.So far, the other bulbs are working fine. I hope they will continue to.I would give 3 stars because it's only 30% that are defective, but then you wouldn't have read this, and wouldn't have been warned. 😉2 other things:it looked like Amazon just threw these in a box, with some bagged air and shipped it. Looked like they had an unpleasant trip; The design of the bulb packaging makes it so that a very specific place is ripped if you aren't careful when removing the bulb from the carton, ie, if you are a normal person, the packaging rips when you take the bulb out of the box. I noticed that many of the flashy bulbs came from cartons that were ripped in that specific way. This makes me think that they were previous returns, resold to me. Please everyone, tell Amazon they are defective when returning, and Amazon, you better be sending those ones back to Sylvania. They need to know there's a problem, cause they need to fix it.Edit: We've worked through almost all of the flashing bulbs. It's a process that involves ordering 30% more than you need to replace, waiting two weeks to make sure the replacements you installed aren't going to flash, and then returning the bad ones and the excess bulbs you ordered. But, I will say, if you get good bulbs, they work really well. They tick all the boxes of color, beam spread and character, and brightness, and dim as smoothly as I can hope using a dimming system the was designed for incandescent lights. The ones that were good when I initially installed them are still working well so far. It's been maybe a year? So far, so good, barring all the work we had to do to get to this place.Edit: it’s now Dec 2020, and we’ve replaced all these bulbs with a different brand. A bulb started flashing about every 3 months, so we just bit the bullet.

was extremely annoying and had to return it
Was not impressed, especially for the name brand. Currently utilize all LED bulbs around the outside and inside of the house. Installed this bulb out of the package and it kept getting dim and bright. was extremely annoying and had to return it...

Light field is a little narrow. Pricey by today's LED standards. They can get wet!
I was somewhat disappointed when I found competitor's bulbs significantly cheaper. They are name brand. The field of illumination is a bit narrow but they are very bright and the light travels a good distance. Kind of like Stalag 13! Every time I turn them on I expect to hear sirens! They have held up nicely, so far, in the rain and ice. Not the type of bulb or application where you would use a dimmer. It's kind of disconcerting to realize that they will probably last longer than you have to live!

Love the intensity of this LED !
Perfect ! I placed this powerful LED light to illuminate the drive way and it does its job quite well ! The 3,000K color temperature and the 2,400 lumens are perfect spec for light. VERY satisfied...a little pricey though...
