Superb coat
Excellent quality (as noted in other reviews not overly bulky, but high quality material and stitching, very appealing appearance to include coloration and texture, and the hasp/buckles are nice, particularly given they are currently out of style one would surmise from the lack of reasonably priced purchase options featuring from stores and websites...the hasps have to be good because no zipper - I purchased and returned a coat prior to that this replaced - it was also very nice, but the zipper was the worst design I - and other reviewers apparently - had ever encountered, and the hasps were really meant as adornments so not robustly constructed - whereas on this coat, the hasps are well constructed and clearly meant to last).

Not 100% wool, cut small, one size larger than normal size would be better
Not 100% wool. If you wear a medium, order large, it will be more comfortable

Fantastic duffle coat
I had been searching quite a while for a nice duffle coat, and am really happy with this one. First off, it's made in England, which is a huge plus. Secondly, while it has a bit more polyester in the blend than a Gloverall duffle coat does, it is significantly less expensive as a result. It also has a slightly more modern fit than a Gloverall, which I like. Overall, it is a fantastic duffle coat that hits all the marks perfectly.A word on sizing. I am 5'10" tall, weight 160 lbs., have a 31" waist, and usually wear a 40R jacket. I bought the Montgomery coat in two sizes - 40 and 38 - because I wasn't sure which one would fit better. The 40 was definitely too large, but the 38 fits perfectly in the chest, shoulders, and torso. Originally, duffle coats were designed to be rather large and to fit as such. Today, though, people tend to want a more flattering look. If you are a bit thicker around the torso or if you plan on wearing your coat over a blazer or sports coat, then I think going with your usual size should be perfect. However, keep in mind that, like traditional duffle coats, this one isn't lined. As a result, it will be a chore to get it to slip over a sports coat. I don't plan on wearing mine that way, so I decided to return the 40 and keep the 38, which fits nicely even with a thick wool cardigan underneath.Like traditional duffle coats, the sleeves are on the long side. Again, this was how they were originally designed back in the day as well. The sleeves hit me right about at the base of my thumb bone. For my tastes, that's too long, so I took mine to a tailor to have shortened by about 3/4". As for the overall length of the coat, it hits me a few inches above my knee, between mid-thigh and knee length. That's exactly perfect for me.Overall, this is a fantastic coat. I would highly recommend it! Sizing is between spot-on and one size too large, depending on how you intend to wear it.

Beautiful coat, bad fit advice, tough return policy
This item is described as being offered with free returns. That's true, but geez, do they make you work for it! You do NOT get a free return if you use the return label Amazon provides. No, you'll be paying return shipping costs if you do that. If you want a pre-paid return label, you have to call the manufacturer and wait for them to mail ( not e-mail, mind you -- SNAIL MAIL) a return label to you. In my case, that took 2 calls and 2 weeks. While they did eventually come through, why not just live up to the spirit of what you're offering and give people free returns right up front through the Amazon return process? That being said, the coat is beautiful and extremely well made. I'd say it's an excellent value for $299.00 as long as it fits you -- and to that end, I'd strongly suggest you ignore the recommendations from both the manufacturer and many reviewers here to order down a size. I'm 5'9", 180-something, and reliably wear a 42 Regular suit with a 16.5/33 dress shirt. Following the advice to order down a size, I ordered a size 40 in this coat. Well, that was very bad advice. The coat was quite tight through the shoulders and upper chest, even with just a lightweight summer shirt. It would have been impossible with a bulky sweater. The other aspect of the fit that was off for me was the sleeve length. The sleeves were a good 3 or 4 inches too long for me. (If you're a tall skinny guy with long arms, this coat will probably be perfect for you, though.) If the coat had fit me correctly in the chest and shoulders, it's nice enough that I'd probably have lived with that and either rolled back the sleeves or taken it in for alterations. The other funny thing about the fit? While I was waiting and waiting for my return label from the manufacturer, I grew frustrated enough to order a duffle coat from Gloverall. I ordered my normal size -- 42 -- and that coat fits me perfectly, no alterations needed, plenty of room for layering.

A comfortable and practical overcoat
Although not cheap, I am really pleased with this duffle coat. I was relieved to find that it is a good fit, as I am 6ft tall, with long arms (which are usually a problem to fit). I ordered the long size, and was a bit worried that the Amazon order site didn't offer a 'size' choice (S,M,L,XL etc) but the 'long' version is fine with my 40 inch chest. Roomy but not too baggy. If I was going to be critical, I would have expected the stitch lines to be done a bit better (the seam stitching was not done perfectly straight) for the price, but overall I am very pleased with the item. It is warm and comfortable to wear, and looks good.

Must
I bought it for my son and he loves it. He is 1.87 and weighs 74 kilos. I got a size 38 and it is slightly large for him, but this is not a problem because this way it can be worn over thicker pullovers. I write this review to let other people know about the size, because I remember myself reading all the reviews again and again trying to decide on the perfect size for him!

Great wool duffle
Extremely satisfied with this purchase. The coat is quality for the price and exactly what I was looking for, just needing a bit of tailoring to get a perfect fit. Usually wear 42 (6'3/195 lbs) and the 42 fits great in the shoulders and chest. The sleeves are wide and a little long, and the coat is quite wide through the torso, so had those spots tailored. Now it's perfect and a much better deal that pretty much any wool coat I've looked at in local stores. It's a 70% wool/30% polyester blend, and completely unlined. The most amazing thing was the shipping, I received the item within two days of ordering, from the UK to Toronto, Canada with just standard free shipping! Sometimes I don't receive other orders that just come from the local Amazon warehouse within two days.

Excellent quality coat at a good price compared to other designer brands.
We bought this for our teenage son who is about 5'10" and 150lbs. Fits him perfectly. This coat is made exceptionally well. It is worth every penny and in fact is better made than my Hugo Boss wool winter coat I bought this winter. If I had known I would have bought one of these for myself instead of the Boss coat. I do find it is made a bit narrow, so if you're large chested or broad shoulders measure well before ordering. Delivery was also very quick, arriving within one week which surprised us as it was shipped from Europe. The material and sewing is top notch, can't see how you can get better quality at this price, it really is well made in every way.
