Wow! Whoever thought a movie could combine Roseanne and Meryl Streep? A time capsule from the 80's with many notable actors and personalities from the day. Roseanne, Modine and Streep are so funny (and young!)! Well constructed comedic gem. Much fun to watch.

Without giving away too much… The main character Ruth, after her husband Bob starts cheating on her with Mary, a romance novelist. Many funny scenes. My favorite is when the record player gets ripped off the table.

Loved it then, love it now. Roseanne was such a Queenof facial expression & line delivery. Miss her, too bad she got banned by the Politically correct.Wonder why there are few really funny movies anymore?? When you kill the comics comedy goes along with them.

There is something that is so uniquely ...perverse about a WOMAN .. That decided to "Get Even" ... with a Man that has done her .... WRONG ! It's best to use these ...tactic's .. than the obvious ..?? Let's face it ... none of us as women will stay ... YOUNG and Beautiful forever . Especially if your married and you assume that your husband will ...always . Have that romantic ..feeling for you like he once had when you both were teenage in love or 20,30 or even 40 something when you were sot by "Cupid's arrow".. ?? Men are very fickle creature's and they ..will get bored and move from . One woman to the next ... There are some people who dis the film. While the others ..rather enjoy it.. In life ..we all will never lean into the same pond ... I like the mother character, the judge and the book agent parts. All three of those ladies have passed away .. I love the house typical of the posh " 1980's at the time .. The story hit's home for many of a woman who has been hurt and betrayed by a man . I will see this again... even though it's been on cable ...in full repeat re-run's since the 1990's .. and I only watch Prime for my viewing pleasure ...

Still such a good film

Hilarious script, Roseanne Barr and Meryl Streep hitting all the right notes, and even the costumes make me laugh. This is an almost perfect comedy.Meryl Streep's portrayal of a vain romance writer, Mary Fisher, raises the comedy from very good to great for two reasons.First, like we expect in every movie Streep does, she is an absoulte master at getting the details right. For example, she can telegraph how haughty Mary Fisher is just by the way she arches her eyebrows.Second, she has a nuanced interpretation of the character. Mary Fisher as written is a caricature, and most actors would play the part as a straight parody, getting laughs just by making her look totally ridiculous. Streep goes deeper than parody by showing how Mary lives behind a facade, as if she's living in her own romance novel. The funniest moments are when the facade slips and we see the real Mary Fisher exposed.

The start of this film was a little challenging. The performance wasn't that good, and the characters appeared forced. The funny movie plot focused on the wife of a cheating spouse. In my opinion, that's as realistic as it gets. Although I don't typically enjoy watching films about infidelity, this one was enjoyable.

Ruth Patchett (Roseanne Barr)is a dedicated mother and wife, who tries her best to run the household and (having a little weight problem) to look attractive for her husband Bob (Ed Begley Jr.). Despite her efforts her husband who is an accountant is captured by Mary Fisher (Meryll Streep) a popular romance author. After his affair gets public at a dinner with his parents, Bob tries to blame Ruth, he points out the things which are most important for him in life, his home, his family, his career and his freedom and claims the only thing disturbing his fortune was her the she-devil and moves to Mary. At that point Ruth plans an evil revenge, tackling Bobs assets - one at a time... On her way she builds up a strong support network for betrayed or just unlucky women who help her on her mission.This 1980s movie is great fun.

I first seen this with the origonal actors many yrs ago and tom baker played the cheat..I like this re-make and roseanne barr plays the role perfectly as the betrayed wife hell bent on revenge.Its funny and know i shall enjoy watching everytime..Roseanne has always been a favourite of mine and the transformation from frumpy housewife to thriving business woman is wonderful.I think a follow up of this with same actors would have been good veiwing but lets hope they never try re-make this one as it wouldn,t be the same.Each one to their own point of view this is one i shall watch time and time again.

Delivery service was fast and the blu ray arrived intact. The movie itself was okay, I have seen Meryl Streep in better comedies.

My disc never played any at all!!! Soooooo disappointed. Therefore I have no recommendations to give for this item.
