Fairy World Coloring Pages: Beautiful, Magical Mystical Fairies to Color

55 Fantasy Designs with fairies and woodland creatures – printed on one side of the page
The media could not be loaded. This is my third coloring book by Barbara Lanza. The other two are by different publishers and while that makes a big difference in how the book is put together, Ms. Lanza's artistic style remains constant and is of high quality. As an extra plus, there are ten pages of tutorials about use of color, medium, and coloring methodologies in the front of the book. As Ms. Lanza has written several successful books about drawing and coloring fairies, getting this information in this coloring book is extremely helpful. This coloring book has 55 fantasy designs. Some are of fairies by themselves while others include flowers and still others have detailed and fairly elaborate backgrounds. The designs range from open and flowing and easy to color to those that will take some time and thought. I believe that there are some re-prints in this book as I have seen some of these pictures before; however, they are not in my two coloring books so I believe they might be from out of print books. As always, I enjoy coloring Ms. Lanza's fairies. She gives them an ethereal and flowing quality that I find really appealing. I love trying to match my colors to the concept of a windblown skirt. I am experimenting with the idea of translucent cloth and one of the fairies in my first projects in this book is one such design. I used my various Copic alcohol-based markers as well as a couple of other markers for small details. I added shade and definition with a variety of colored pencils. This is what I found in coloring and testing this book:55 Fantasy Fairy DesignsDesigns are printed on one side of the page. The paper is medium weight, white, smooth and non-perforated.Some designs merge into the binding areaSewn BindingYou can remove several pages at a time by sipping binding threads without loss of any portion of the designsI had to break the spine to get the book to open fairly flat.Alcohol-based markers bleed through the paper. I used card stock as a blotter below my working page to keep the rest of the book ink-free.Water-based markers leave the slight of shadows on the back of the page. Nothing bled through that would damage pages below.Gel pens and India ink pens did not bleed through but gel pens needed extra drying time.Coloring pencils were mixed. I found that both wax and oil based pencils had good color and layered well but blending was a problem on this smooth paper. The color seems to adhere to the original spot and only light blending happens as the very edges. Hard lead pencils did not dent the back of the page.

Amazing book - Great for beginners or advanced
I have books from Barbra Lanza under the Creative Haven banner so I expected this book to be along those lines. It is not is is WAY better. Now I love the Creative Haven books to but this book first off is huge it is about four times the size of the others. There are two colored examples and some simple color tutorials to the front of the book so that is great if you are a beginner. There is a good mix of simple and complex images so there is something for you if you are a beginner or advanced. It's single sided printing so you can use any medium you like. The paper is bright white and good weight and I have used Crayola, Caran D'ache Pablo and Prismacolor pencils and they all work great. The line art is crisp and clear and a bit onthe heavy side The pages are not perforated but since I don't want to rip pages or of my books I don't need that. This is a really great book. Wish more books were made like this.

Finally, GREAT quality paper!!
This book is the only coloring book I've purchased that actually has excellent quality paper! Very clean, very smooth surface. Doesn't really smear and smudge like those awful recycled pages do.The art is of mediocre design but the lines are very, very clean, which is a refreshing change from all of the terribly over pixelated junk that is all too common in these kinds of books.Overall, a very good quality product with "just okay" artwork. The great paper in itself is enough to make me happy!!

Highly recommend!!
This is a really nice book. The cover itself is beautiful and glossy. It comes with pages of coloring tips and 2 colored images for referrence. The paper is a nice smooth medium weight which should be perfect for blending and shading your fairies. There are so many illustrations thou some may seem kind of simple. The paper in this book is so much better than the create space which makes your coloring experience so much more enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Preferred Enchanted Fairies by this Artist.
.I loved Enchanted Fairies and liked Fairy Lane. However, in Fairy World, some of the best images go into the non-perforated binding, even though on the back of the book, it says perforated binding. Also, the lines are too black in many images.
