The 'Better Bread Slicer' is BlackHillsbyDesign's answer for needed improvements in the bread slicing category. As avid amateur bakers ourselves we were disappointed with the functionality of the market's current offerings. Taller side panels, innovative side panel storage, made from "real wood" (rather than pressed bamboo using undisclosed glues), multiple loaf widths, stable vertical side panels to securely hold loaves for slicing, heavy-duty and stable. Attractive enough to warrant a permanent display position on your kitchen wall. (Mounting hardware included for both wall mounting and interior cabinet mounting.) The 'Better Bread Slicer' has been distressed and stained using natural products only (coffee and tea currently - additional colors coming soon) and finished using food-safe mineral oil and wax. Our products are hand-crafted right here in the Black Hills of South Dakota using Ponderosa Pine from Devil's Tower Forest Products. BlackHillsbyDesign attempts to differentiate our products from the cheaply-made, easily broken, poorly designed imports so common in today's marketplace. "Made in America" is not only a source of pride for our company but a conscious decision to do things right the first time and every time. Better design. Better materials. Better instructions. Better customer service. BlackHillsbyDesign. Disclaimers: This unit should not be placed in dishwasher or soaked in water. This unit is not "shiny" in appearance. It has a matte finish due to the use of food-safe oils/waxes. (We use mineral oil rather than tung oil, etc. as we wanted to avoid nut allergies.) The unit has also been "distressed"/aged via our finishing processes.
