What impresses me most about this boom arm is the base and the professional look. Very sturdy design and function with the base. Boom arms are metal, joints and knobs are plastic. I go to 4 stars instead of 5 because after I tested various mics on this boom arm and found that it does ok with lighter shotgun mics, it required more tightening with a heavier broadcast mic and experienced a little droop with an AT-2035 attached, even after tightening the joints. (I didn't want to reef down too hard because the plastic knobs/joints don't feel very sturdy.) The cable channel on the top of the arms is nice to hide the cable but the little plastic retaining clips do not snap firmly in place. Even after snapping them in the groove, they are loose. Not a big deal, just not the quality I expected.For the price, this boom arm is just fine for shotgun/lighter mics, looks much better than scissor arms with springs, and will suit my needs to support my MKE-600 or Videomic NTG.
