The smartistech 2 Pack Chef's Basting Set does take up some fridge space if you’re the type that refrigerates your oil. I wasn’t sure it would be worth that space, or space on the counter, but it turns out I’m finding it quite useful. The glass container is nice, and the silicon bristles are suspended so that they don’t get warped. The idea is to squeeze the bulb to get the oil up into the brush, and then to squeeze it to release onto the brush. This whole process doesn’t seem to work that well, and it also means that you need to keep the container quite full of oil. If that’s the case, you won’t be using up one batch of oil before you need to refill the container. To me, that’s a problem, and the design needs a revision. I’m thinking of trying to somehow make some changes to mine. Even if I just keep the container for a way to protect my silicon brush, and then dip the brush into another container of oil before spreading it around on a baking surface, I think I will continue to use this.

I never use Pam Spray on my non-stick pans because the manufacturers of all my pans warn that this can ruin it. I do need a light coat of oil, but until I got these brilliant basting brush in a jar, I was never able to get the hang of getting just the right amount of oil. With this, I merely squeeze the bulb on top the brush, and then wipe it on my pan. It always leaves the perfect amount of oil. I haven't had any trouble with the oil dripping or spilling where I don't want it.
