Product description Horse Chestnut: or "Aesculus hippocastanum", a tree that can reach 30m, should not be confused with the classic chestnut tree, it is toxic to humans. The toxic substance "esculin" is therefore almost absent from the products used. Contrary to what its name might suggest, the horse chestnut tree is native to the mountainous regions of the Balkans. According to scientists, it can be traced back to strains that predate the Ice Age. Introduced around 1557 in Constantinople, the use of horse chestnut became widespread throughout Europe in the 18th century.
