Very informative!
This book focuses on the history of black people from slavery to the end of the 20th century. This book contains many historical tidbits. A must read for all fashion historians.

The book that could have been
So disappointed with this overpriced , softcover, uninspiring account of black fashion designers. Fashion and soft cover do not go hand and hand. This should have been a visually stunning account of the black designer past present and future. The book had very little photo content. So many names missing: Jamie McDonald of the 70’s, John Haggins, Gordon Henderson, Byron Lars, Isaia Rankin, , Edward Wilkinson (who created many Donna Karen signatures and founded Lafayette 148. Where is CD Greene, Tracey Reese. On the hip hop side, where was Carl Jones creator of Cross colours, April Walker, Maurice Malone. No Andre Walker????? Fabrice..the king of sequin??? Jeffrey Banks? So disappointed! I am returning.
