Great upgrade to existing hair care products
I've added this dimethicone to my hair conditioning mask and leave in conditioner, it has upgraded both significantly. I gasped when I first applied my hair mask to my hair after adding the dimethicone - it was like a hot knife going through butter, just glorious. My particular mask is an existing bought formulation and I added the dimethicone on the basis that the first two ingredients are water and ceteryl alcohol so I thought there would be enough of the later to emulsify the dimethicone in the formulation. I decant my conditioner into a small container and add approx about 7-8% of the dimethicone in, mix and leave overnight. The goal is that the dimethicone completely blends in and is undetectable i.e. there is no sign of excess dimethicone/separation. The amount of hair I lose while detangling my hair after washing is also another shock, night and day to before using this; the decrease in hair loss is easily 80%. I'm going to be derma rolling my skin so will be interested to try using the dimethicone in some way there too. My only issue is that this dimethicone doesn't state the viscosity which is important. I however think this brand's is either 350 or 500 which is what's used for skin products, 1000 is used in hair products. For reference this dimethicone is significantly thinner than castor oil, maybe 20-30% of the body? It's runny. All in all I'm finding using this dimethicone in existing store bought products to be great. And successful. I think it will be a staple for me while so many brands continue with the anti-silicone propaganda in hair products. I have 4C afro hair.
