great replacement iron, could use a little higher top heat
My old Tenma was showing its age and I decided to get a new iron. This one is pretty high-tech compared to my old one, which has a big base and a knob to adjust the temp on. This new unit is lightweight and has a digital screen to show the current and target temp. Hold down a button and it turns on. Press the up and down to adjust the goal temp. After a few sec it switches back to displaying live temp, and you can see it quickly rise and stop when it hits the goal. This is my first time owning a soldering iron with a digital readout.I found I do have to wait 20-30 sec for the actual temp on the tip to stabilize, so there's some inertia in the heat. It also can struggle on larger items because it takes 15-20 sec to catch up the heat on large items. So when I turn it on to use it, I set the temp, it comes up and stops, and I have to give it another 15 sec before it will melt solder, as I wait for the heat to get to the end of the tip. Also I keep needing to tighten the twist on the bottom of the iron that holds the tip because it keeps coming unscrewed. I suppose that's the heating and cooling that keeps loosening it but I don't want to crank it hard and break it. My old iron has this issue (less frequently) too, so I suppose I just need to give it a harder twist.Depending on what I'm working on, I periodically need to adjust my temps so I'm not cooking small partsor taking forever to solder larger ones, so that ends up with a lot of button pressing. With a knob I'm not really concerned about wear and tear, but these push buttons do leave me wondering if I'm going to eventually wear them out like I've seen happen with push button adjustments on other devices I own.So I haven't decided yet if this is an improvement over my old iron or not. It does have an "auto shutoff" feature though which is nice. Unlike my old iron, it doesn't have any bright lights on it to remind you that it's on, but it will sense when you haven't handled it in several minutes and will turn down the temp. It doesn't turn off completely though, which might be a better idea?

Easy to use
I like how easy it is to maneuver for a corded soldering iron. I work with very small components mostly and the pointed tips work well. I don't think the temperature control is worthwhile. At higher than normal settings it still didn't melt solder. I cranked it up to max and it does great. You need to know how to solder of course so you don't cook a pad with any iron but Yes, it's a good buy this price. I bought another like it that was a little cheaper with a dial thermostat just to get the extra tips and stuff. They are so cheap that the extra included tips, flux. solder, etc. cost more to order separately. Got a back up iron now.

Good iron .... until it wasn't
Lightweight, F and C scale easily adjusted. I like the quick buildup of heat. Gets to work fast....The above is what I said when I first bought the iron. Now, it's not so great. The heat transfer is next to non-existent. I changed out the soldering tip when this issue first arose. I have double-checked that I put everything back in place correctly. But the iron just isn't as good now as it was months ago. Soldering anything -- diodes, IC sockets, etc. -- is a chore. I fear I'm leaving behind cold solders. Worse, I'm wasting time struggling with this iron and then having to perform minute tests afterwards in addition to the general testing I perform after a finished board.I have tightened the bottom ring to ensure a firm hold on the heating element. I don't really know what else to do. I most likely will buy another iron.

It's great. Just buy it!
Update:I received the replacement from the seller.I've been working with it for a couple of weeks. This is a fantastic soldering iron, and an excellent value for the price.Original:I bought this a little over a month ago and made the mistake of waiting until now to use it.When I plugged it in the display came on but "0 - E" appeared, which indicated an error condition, and no heat was produced. Since it was outside of the return window on Amazon, I sent a message to the seller. The seller responded within hours and is sending a replacement to me at no charge.I highly recommend this seller. They stand behind their products!

Just OK
This soldering iron takes a long time to heat up and you get what you pay for, mediocre performance. I should have purchased a more performant/expensive unit.

Junk
Won't even melt solder off the wire roll half the time. Unreliable garbage. Rather than return, I took a sledge hammer to it.

Excellent produit
Utiliser pour moteur électrique de bateau , un produit qui était tel que décris et de plus la température est réglable ce qui est très utile selon la soudure à faire . Tout équiper prêt à l’utilisation . Meilleur rapport qualité prix selon mon avis .

Quality seems good, but no case.
The iron appears to be of good quality. The supplied tips will be appropriate for most small soldering jobs. For the price paid I would have appreciated a small plastic carrying case to hold the soldering iron so that it will not be damaged in a tool box.

Very low quality useless product cannot return
I tried soldering a wire to a led strip, no matter what I did didn’t get hot enough to solder, the flux is just useless and doesn’t work, soldering spool doesn’t get melt it gets stuck everywhere except on the pad, so disappointing and a waste of moneyI cannot even return itWhat am I supposed to with this now? Amazon or the seller don’t take responsibility,Waste of our money, tired of useless products like thisGood luck

not close to be 100w at 120v. tested it at 40w
i bought it for heavy soldering because my actual 60w iron isn't strong enough. This one was claiming 100w and higher temp. In fact it test at 42w and after reading the spec tag, it says 110-240v ac so maybe it is more watts at 240v but it has a north america 120v plug so don't be fooled.yes it work and get up to heat fast but it is an average soldering iron for small jobs.
