Great series
My nine year old loves these books, she’s sitting at the dinner table teaching me things that I never learned in school about this country, history, etc. good buy.

4 Stars
Ideal for kids with some experience with the Revolution who are interested in learning the "lesser known" stories and debunking myths. Great use of illustration with the text

Real history
Sorry if it didn't jive with the preferences of some of the other reviewers here, but the facts in this book are what actually happened, not the sanitized grade school textbook version. This is the version I want my kids to know, the facts, not the glossed over version. So glad this book exists. And to the reviewer who said it's "critical race theory": nothing in this book matches the college course description of critical race theory. If it's honesty about our nation's checkered past that bothers you, well, that's too bad. Because I prefer that my kids know the actual facts about things, not just Tucker Carlson's Fox News propaganda. Fact checking is pretty darn important, especially these days, and this author has definitely done her homework.

Misleading
Good drawings, misleading text. Overall the comic paints the American Revolution in a poor light. The heroes are gone. The terrible risk ran by the patriots isn’t there, and the mishandling of the colonists by the crown isn’t there either. Somehow the Americans are like all other revolutionaries. The documents they drafted and the causes they fought for do not seem unique. The causes are no different from the communist or socialist. Just another social upheaval to benefit the upper crust. In fact the American Revolution was totally unique. Nothing like our revolution had occurred before in history, and so called revolutions since our revolution have been bloodbaths orchestrated by power mad men like Lenin or Mao, or Hitler. Millions have died because of lies and distortions by groups claiming to seek liberty, but their word liberty meant power to a few fanatics and oppression to millions. The American Revolution delivered more freedom to more people than any revolution in history. No bloodbaths after victory. No one gaining absolute power for as long as they lived, like Lenin, Mao, Castro, and others. The American Revolution featured men refusing power and walking away from power offered to them. There is much more to praise about the American Revolution, but the reader will not find it in the pages of this comic.
