Use as a duty knife. Perfect for the job.

My first SOG.So far very pleased. It flips opens easily, using both the thumb studs and the finger flipper. Though, the flipper does hang up sometimes, but seems to be loosening up with use.The lock button/mechanism also works well. Was pretty sharp out of the box. The tanto point is imposing. Feels good in the hand. A stable grip, with good texturing on the scales. This doesn't feel like a cheap knife. When I hold it, I know I have a substantial piece in my hand, one that is dependable.I processed some cedar, and it did very well. Handled well -- was easy to control. The blade really did well on the wood, as in, it bit as much or as little as I wanted it to. When I needed to notch or take down the branch bumps it did surprisingly well. I've only had fixed blades to this point. I am not sure this SOG does as well as any of my Moras, which are about the same size blade. but I will have to try them side by side to see. Overall, though, I was pretty impressed. This is not a chopper, by any means, but it is not designed to be.There are a lot of knives out there, and I think that this one competes well with similar types. I am happy so far with my purchase, I think this one is a keeper.

Smooth xr lock, nice looking tanto knife, very sharp right outa the box. The only thing I dont like is the blade is a tiny bit loose in the closed position. But it's solid when open.

It arrived VERY sharp.It's perfect for your pocket. Lightweight and fits in my hand nicely. The only possible negative is it's sometimes locks when trying to open with the thumb stud. I applied slip 2000 EWG and it helped. Maybe with time it'll break in. Overall great knife.Update: After lubricating the locking mechanism and ball bearings, the knife operates flawlessly.

Smooth, zero effort blade open and close. Super fast action. XHP is not as hard as the description says. Edge retention is ok, not very long lasting. The 2 plane edge is more difficult to sharpen but looks cool.

I like the knife and will be keeping it but the description says it is a straight edge version and I got the half serrated version. Disappointed but not worth the exchange hassle.

SOG knocked this one out of the park.I'll be straight and to the point.Build quality is robust. No mfg issues, smooth out of box.Blade bearing glides smoothly.Flipper action is great no matter how you choose to open it.Sharp blade out of box, easy to sharpen after the fact too.Handle feels good and is ergonomic.Size is spot on for my hand. Not too big, not too small, good in between size.Lock is sturdy, no issues with itCouple of minor details:Loading up the flipper to open is kind of tricky. You have to be aware of where your thumb is at. If you're near the lock tab release when you flip, it kind of locks "sideways". Although it still locks fine, it's something to note. Depending on how you flip, it may not "rocket" out of the handle like some flippers. This is purely by finger action, no wrist action.A little wrist action or opening with the thumb is all good. Very fast actionThe other is the pocket clip. It's not a deep carry so the butt of the pocket clip is exposed. Not a huge deal but it takes a bit of getting used to if your knives have mostly been deep carry.Opening with the flipper
