The Gangi family has dedicated a portion of their organic 80-acre farm to the production of Almonds. The farm is located at the base of the Madonie Mountains, it's rugged terrain and peaks home to Madonie Park. The park is a protected reserve helping maintain a balance with wildlife, farming and village traditions. The landscape around the mountains is dotted with giant holly, some hundreds of years old, the rare Mandonie spruce and Sicilian fur, a truly breathtaking backdrop to the far. Our Italian almonds come from highly prized hard shell almond trees. Hard-shelled almonds are more intensely flavored, have a higher concentration of almond oil and are much more rare and difficult to harvest. We think they are definitely worth the effort because that hard shell protects the seed and allows it to fully develop its essential almond-ness. Almonds are high in antioxidant vitamin E, fiber, and monounsaturated fats. They're also an excellent source of manganese, magnesium, tryptophan, copper, vitamin B12 and phosphorus
