This book has helped me with my journey in trying to find a common goal to find a way to build a relationship with my mother. This is teaching me to let go of the past hurts and try to understand maybe why she wasn't the loving kind of mother that I so desired growing up. GOD was the center of this book and it taught me the way to do things when it comes to having a meaningful relationship with my mother is to remember to do it GOD's way and not off of my emotion. I was so grateful to have found this book here on Amazon.

Dr. Linda Mintle is one of my favorite speakers. I cling to the radio when she on "In the Market" with Janet Parshall. 1st time I've purchased one of her books. Heard her refer to this book several times on radio, had to pick up. Easy read. Practical advice for changing behavior patterns (for me) with my relationship with my mother (applicable for adult son). Win win.

Not worth the little money it cost me
I couldn't even get through the first few pages. The author makes some seriously flawed statements about feminists on the first page (no, feminists do not believe we marry our mothers). The book also completely fails to recognize the needs of the daughters. I sought this book when struggling with my relationship with a narcissistic mother (who I did not know was a narcissist at that time). Do not seek help from this book if you have a mother who is unwilling to discuss your relationship or admit to any wrongdoing, acts like previous conflicts between you are things you made up, or shames you for choosing a lifestyle different from her own. Also, if you are agnostic, atheist, not Christian or otherwise struggling with church/faith issues, don't rely on this book either, because it is completely Christianity-oriented. If your relationship with your mother involves experiences of past abuse, current control problems, and intimidation, seek a book that actually helps guide you on dealing with conflict and mental illness in your family. Because this book will not.

A nice, good read
A nice book about mother and daughter relationship. I enjoyed reading it. It helps me to better understand my mother and embrace our differences. While I am not religious I had no problem with Mintle's religious references, moreover I realized that our differences in values are very minor. If you are a true atheist I don't recommend this book though...

Very easy read, full of reassurance and wisdom when dealing with mother daughter relationships. Has a Christian theme of forgiveness and respect and being the first to seek reconciliation.

Wasn't what I was looking for. It is for younger women who are still developing their relationships not ones who are trying to heal or strengthen existing ones!
