Great book for a 4 year old
I bought this book for my 4 year old niece to help her understand the role of being a flower girl. She absolutely loved the book and read it with her Mom endlessly the weeks leading up to the wedding. I struggled finding a book that explained the role of a flower girl (not just played on the homophones of the words) and was suitable for a 4 year old to understand. This book was excellent and highly recommended for the young flower girls to be.

5 year old son loves weddings/public displays of affection/stories about love and he really enjoyed this book about a series ...
My 4.5 year old son loves weddings/public displays of affection/stories about love and he really enjoyed this book about a series of humorous misunderstandings at a family wedding. The flower girl thought she was going to wear a dress made out of celery stalks, walk down the aisle with a bear holding the rings, and she thought her cousin's fiancé (named Alex) was a man. Turns out she was going to wear a dress that was the color celery, the ring bearer was just a boy, and Alex is a woman. After finishing the book the first time, he immediately asked me to read it again.

Two persons who love each other got married
This book is delightful. It is imaginative and engaging, describing several mistaken assumptions made by a little girl, who came to understand that sometimes things are different from what one imagined. Yes, the wedding is that of a same-sex couple. It is described as any other wedding would be - in a matter-of-fact, non-judgmental tone. Two persons who love each other got married, and the protagonist got to be a flower girl in her cousin's wedding. It is very sweet, without being insipid. I actually purchased several of these, and have given them as gifts, much to the delight of several small children. Thank you, Meryl G Gordon, for this wonderful book!

This an excellent book for kids
This an excellent book for kids. My children didn't know what a flower girl was and they walk around now pretending. What a cute way to explain the procedure! Thank you, can't wait for another one! Keep writing!

A tale for the ages- and for all ages!
An extraordinary story, told with sensitivity, insight and humor. Sure to equally delight (and educate) both those those being read to and those reading it aloud to their kids and grandkids. Don't miss this wonderful addition to children's literature!

parent beware
This book's big surprise is that Emma's girl cousin is marrying a girl. There should be a warning for parents on the book before one starts reading to their young child. This is way to early to be pushing this type of political agenda on children who are still developing physically and emotionally.

Totally messed up
Borrowed this book from the library. Didn’t know this book is promoting homosexuality until mid way reading the book with my child. I think if you’re promoting a controversial concept, at least put it on the book cover so parents who don’t want to expose their children to this can avoid it. The Rabi in the synagogue is also a lady.
