Q: Are the pieces weighted?

Yes. They have a nice weight and solid feel.

Q: Does anyone know where I can get replacements for the two green chess storage compartments? I damaged mine.

Q: Do the pieces get knocked out easily? Do you see the middle line where it folds when the board is open? Does it feel solid and heavy ?

the pieces are heavy enough and never fall with me. The middle line will show a bit, it's impossible not to show 100%, but it really isn't much of a big deal.. as for the last question, yes it feels solid.. not as heavy as a custom built block of wood, but heavy for a hollow, foldable set.

Q: What are the hinges for? The picture shows hinges at the side, but one review suggest they are in the middle and keep the pieces from sliding across.

The board is actually a box and folds to hold the pieces when not playing; thus the hinges. What you see in the picture are the clasps on the side that are used to latch the box lid shut when storing the game pieces. The hinge is in the inside and is not visible when playing.
