Q: What does this fire exactly? Just the gas canister?

It will run on propane and it injects the propane into the cannon's barrel where it will then drop a hammer on a spark plug to get it to combust inside the barrel and create a big cannon sound

Q: Is a timer available for this model? For day or night time?

Not to my knowledge there is no timer available It’s purely controlled by turning gas valve on and off

Q: Can this be set off remotely on demand? i am not referring to the timer.

Hello, You can set the blast intervals from 2–30 minutes apart, and the blast sound is adjustable from 110 to 120 dB depending on your needs. You can do this with the regulator and the db level can be changed by extending the barrel.

Q: Does it work for pigeons on top of your house?

We would not recommend using this for your home. The cannon is very loud and it is not recommended to use in a neighborhood. If you live in the country and there are no neighbors around then you could use this to scare off the pigeons. But not in a suburban neighborhood.
