This was has about 10/15 hours work in her Burl is a very hard wood to work with since there is no grain pattern to follow and you need to do most tof the work all by hand and with extremely sharp tools and keep re sharping them . so when you ask why the cost well not only is the wood 4-5 times more then any other wood the labor is 4-5 times more and it beats the hell out of your tools but as you can see the finish product is well worth the price Disclaimer The terms "Native American Flute" and "Indian Flute" are used to describe the style of flutes and music that I create. It does not imply that the flutes are made by a member of a Native American tribe. Actually, I am, as most of you are, a "Native American" but not a Native American Indian. . My flutes are made "in the style of Native American" flutes. The CRAZY BEAR flutes are made by me, Robert Carlson, who is not a member of a Native American Indian tribe. I do have 3 tribes represented in my shop, Cherokee,Blackfoot and Mohawk , those workers/helpers currently help with sanding, polishing and one is doing custom carving blocks . Thank you for coming by my site. I hope you enjoy my craftsmanship and artistry. I strive to create flutes with the absolute best tone, intonation and visual beauty possible
