The Huntsman: Winter's War [Blu-ray]
M**.
A very good Huntsman-focused story
The Huntsman: Winter's War is partly a prequel, but mostly a sequel to the movie Snow White and the Huntsman, which basically ignores Snow White. Kristen Stewart is shown in one flash at the very beginning of the movie using footage from the first movie, but after that, Snow White is not seen again. The prequel part of the movie, in the beginning, is basically an origin story for the ice queen Freya (played by Emily Blunt) who is the sister of Queen Ravenna, and Eric/The Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) and his love Sara, played by Jessica Chastain. Then, the movie jumps to a point after the events of the first movie in which Snow White has fallen ill (explaining her absence), and William (Snow White's husband) tasks Eric with retrieving the Mirror before Freya can use its power. For those who get the blu-ray, the movie looks and sounds great in HD. Of course, there are a lot of CGI special effects that look awesome in the HD format. The disc includes two versions of the movie, the theatrical, and an extended edition that adds a little over six minutes to the movie. The additions are pretty negligible and do not change the story at all. For extras, there is a commentary track on the movie by the director, deleted scenes, and a gag reel, that each clock in just under 10 minutes, and then a five-part making-of documentary that runs about a half-hour in total.Overall, the movie is good, but because of Stewart essentially being fired, it is really disconnected from the first movie. Chastain and Blunt do step into their roles well and Charlize Theron is again awesome as Ravenna. Hemsworth does a good job in the leading role and thus Snow White's absence is not felt like I thought it would when it was announced the movie would be made without her.

Enjoyable for the whole family
I don’t think this movie is as good as Snow White and the Huntsman, but still very fine viewing for the entire family. Less in the Sanctuary but more with ice special effects. It doesn’t seem to register with any fairy tale that I experienced as a child, but so what? It may have bit a bit long, but that isn’t terrible as it didn’t drag. And the actors seemed to be having fun making the movie, so that is a real plus.

cash grab - totally different than Snow White
costumes were pretty, special effects were lovely, Charlize and especially Emily Blunt give their all, but Jessica Chastain and Hemsworth and their overdone Scottish? Irish? Middle Earth? accents are grating. The story b a r e l y ties in to Snow White and the Huntsman so I wouldn't call it a "sequel," more of a "cash grab." and definitely does not have any resemblance to The Snow Queen story. It's not as sumptuous as the Snow White, the dialogue is stiff, and adding comic relief sidekick dwarves was offensive and patronizing in all the ways you'd expect (Nick Frost. you're better than this). And where Snow White resisted the urge to have Hemsworth take off his shirt, the Huntsman was more than happy to give some PG-13 lessons in de rigeur hanky panky. Snow White was moody and ethereal, Huntsman is cheesy and sentimental because love conquers all!! (TM, disclaimer: when you're model-gorgeous). Not saying Snow White didn't have its flaws, but it kept closer to the Fairy Tale genre, whereas the Huntsman was pure Hollywood from start to finish. 'Hey, is that?... Liam Neeson as the narrator for no particular reason. and wait, in the closing credits. is she singing about _cameras?_ and being famous? in a quasi-Arthurian set piece? Why yes, yes indeed!' I knew as soon as I realized Conrad Khan, who has HAZEL eyes, was cast as Chris Hemsworth as a child, I'd be watching a movie that didn't care much for attention to obvious inconsistencies, production errors, and formulaic scenes.

It's great movie to watch with a lady friend / man friend. 100% guaranteed to get the loving going! Looking for a movie to cuddle up too and get action/love with then highly recommend it. I have some great memories getting some sexual healing with this movie.

An all-around very good movie.
The movie itself is very good and worth watching more than once. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because it does not fit in exactly in some areas with the first movie (there are some contradictions). But, by itself, it's a great show.

Sehr gut gemacht, tolle Schauspieler, tolle Kostüme
