Big Investment and Worth Every Penny!
I did a lot of research prior to pulling the trigger on this, my wife would argue obsessive levels. In any event given my setup the unit size and flexibility needed was a big part of the decision making process. I've attached a few pics:A) Total setup: This is endstate, where the Espresso Haven 72 sits below my 120" diag screen. The door on the right is the sole entry into the media room. I didn't take a pic of the before because it was sad and embarrassing, but suffices to say the prewired speaker wire and component wires were completely visible when you entered the room.B) The 72" haven: This is a closer perspective. This beautiful unit has perfect amount of space for the ML center with not too much room around and plenty of space for components. The one thing I keep on the top of the unit is the universal remote.C) Side view with unit pulled away from wall: The wheels on the bottom allow for easy access to the back of the unit. A couple of times I had crossed some inputs into the receiver and this feature made adjustments a breeze.D) Unit up against the wall: I have actually left off the back panels to be able to push the unit right up against the wall (to the baseboards at least) and the wiring/outlets are no longer visible when you enter the room.Overall the unit is extremely well built; they don't make things this solid anymore. Also Standout's focus on media units shows with all the wiring holes this was by far the easiest time I've ever had setting up a media center (this is number 4 for me). I'm 100% sure Standout was the right choice.

I couldn't think of anything more in a media console
Like others here, buying a media console was something that I put a lot of research into. It was only after searching around online for media consoles that I heard of Standout Designs and their products. My first communication with them was many months ago - I requested free wood samples. The samples quickly arrived, and I was impressed with the quality. When you combine this with their customer service, I didn't hesitate ordering a Haven. The unit arrived only one week after I ordered, and there was plenty of packaging to make sure nothing was damaged. Alan (one of the Standout employees) was notified that I signed for my shipment, and e-mailed me just to make sure everything was okay. Setting up all of my components within the console is really easy - the back panels just pop off with a gentle pull. Overall, this is an amazing piece of furniture from a company that truly values quality and customer service. Highly recommended.

The best media console
I have to concur with the others here, a well made, good looking piece of furniture that is superbly designed to do its job. No assembly required except to install the glass in the doors and place the shelves. The striking thing about this console is that there are not a zillion copy cats out there, at least I could not find anything else on the market with all the features Stand Out provides. All the shelves and the bottoms are ventilated. The back panels pull off, held by one clip, so that you can get at the wiring and rearrange or change devices simply. There are multiple ways to route wires under, around, through and behind stuff. The hidden casters a real blessing, making it easy to pull the console out from the wall to make adjustments; you would never know they are there looking from the front. I have the smoked glass doors, but have had no issues with IR-based remotes, they work fine. With five electronic devices installed in my console, there are no wires visible at all from the front, a vast improvement over the stand we previously used. The receiver, DVD, etc., while not hidden, are subdued behind the glass, no longer an ugly focal point in our living room. My center channel speaker fits nicely in the shelf provided and is now unobtrusive.I should add that the console arrived in about a week and was thoughtfully well protected in a single large box on a pallet, no damage whatever. The amazing protective packing seems to be consistent with the overall great design of the console. Customer service and communication were outstanding. While not inexpensive, this console and this company clearly exemplify "you get what you pay for", an excellent value most anyone would be happy to own.

Awesome console!!
We love this media console! We looked all over the internet hoping to find a real wood, well made unit. This is it! It is very well made - and also MADE IN THE USA! Can't get better than that. It is not the cheapest one out there - but you definitely get what you pay for. The back of the unit is vented - it has vented shelves and it has places to run your cords through. It has little wheels you can not see in the legs - so moving it is a breeze. You honestly can't go wrong with this console. I wish they made other ffurniture - display units - book cases, etc. Oh, and the gentleman I corresponded with was extremely nice. They even made a suggestion that saved us some money. Seem to be very nice people too. We got the "white glove" delivery - the two men brought it in, unboxed it and hauled all the trash away. The delivery company was great too. All the way around - it was a wonderful purchase experience. We highly recommend buying from this company.

but I can say it is both a substantial price AND good value! I could see myself still using and ...
I purchased the 72 inch Haven EX a few months ago. I recently moved and my previous AV furniture no longer fit the space. I looked at some of the larger manufacturers to compare to Standout. Standout Designs was able to customize the center speaker cabinet by making it taller and the drawer shorter. I was then able to use my existing B&W speaker set up, which was a high priority for me.The Haven is what I would call subtle high quality. It doesn't call attention to itself and you realize it's quality on second look. It is not the least expensive option, but I can say it is both a substantial price AND good value! I could see myself still using and enjoying this piece of furniture for the next 20 years.
